Admittedly, velvet is not our thing and the return of velvet last year did fill us up with dread but what can we do! Velvet is BACK! It was seen in all the fashion weeks and seems like it will be a strong trend for this Winter again. The soft and warm texture of the fabric is perfect for warm weather and its shown up in short dresses, gowns, sarees, blouses, lehengas and churidar kurtas.

A thing to remember – Velvet tends to be frumpy and unforgiving in looser form. They key is to wear it fitted or structured.

Among Indian designers, Manish Malhotra and Tarun Tahiliani seem to be leading the way. Bollywood men and women have been spotted sporting this trend. Even Harper Bazaar Editor Sujata Asoomull embraced the trend in a rich Velvet saree.
