Love Actually- Diksha Tahilramani and Rohan Batra’s Platinum Day of Love
Love Actually, Precious Platinum - Oct 30, 2013
Our new initiative- ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring engaged couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates the beautiful people in love as they start their lives together. Because real love can only begin, never end. Over coffee, a makeover and a photo shoot we get to-be-weds to tell us how they met, show us their platinum love bands and talk about their day of love.
For the first photo shoot we invited Diksha Tahilramani, a Dentist and Rohan Batra, a Pilot with Jet Airways. It’s a sweet high school story of the couple who are getting married at the Renaissance Hotel, Powai in November this year. Says Diksha: “We first met in a tuition class when we were in the 10th grade, and I had a crush on him then. When I joined Ruparel College, I saw him in my class, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my classmate felt the same. Unfortunately (for us) and fortunately (for him) he got a scholarship and moved to Singapore for the next 2 years and all was forgotten until one day he returned, we met, and hit it off all over again and haven’t looked back since.
Rohan proposed to Diksha on her 25th birthday. So while she was busy studying for her Masters and had no clue what was happening at home, Rohan was busy planning an epic surprise with her dad. “So the night I was to turn 25 he got me into a little black dress, blindfolded me and took me to what I thought was a surprise party with friends. But instead it was a private dining experience for the families to meet and he went down on one knee to propose to a very shocked me.” Their formal Engagement ceremony will be at the wedding itself; the Sangeet is preceded by the Sagai.
Diksha tell us that Wedding Planning has been a fun and indulgent experience. “Even with 10 years of planning parties and knowing each other’s families, nothing prepares you for the chaos and drama that comes with a wedding- especially if it’s the one you’ve dreamed of all your life. We have been planning for nearly a year now so we would like to believe that we are quite familiar with the ropes and the industry. We have an organized Director in Neha Shroff (Momente Wedding Planners) who has helped us keep things under control and before time.” Rohan smiles and quips: “The shopping extravaganzas weren’t the most enjoyable for me, but fortunately I’ve learned to enjoy that experience as well.” Concludes Diksha: “Our memory of planning is going to be sitting at a coffee shop for a whole day of meetings with different vendors- the experience of meeting new people and creating the wedding of your dreams is what I guess we’ve enjoyed doing most together.”
If you’re getting married in 2014 and would like to be a part of ‘Love Actually’ write to us (editor@weddingsutra.com) with the link to your FB profiles, wedding date and ‘how you met’ story. Selected couples will be invited for the shoots in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.
