Love Actually- Ritika Bharwani and Nikhil Jaisinghani’s Platinum Day of Love
Love Actually, Precious Platinum - Feb 11, 2014
Our new initiative- ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring engaged couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates beautiful people in love as they start their lives together. Because real love can only begin, never end. Over coffee, a makeover and a photo shoot we get to-be-weds to tell us how they met, show us their platinum love bands and talk about their day of love.
Our photo shoot with Ritika Bharwani, Creative Director of design label ‘Ritika’ and Nikhil Jaisinghani the head honcho of Polycab took place at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. The hotel that offers the best of both worlds- breathtaking views of the sea and the energy of city life has been one of the favorite haunts for dinners and romantic dates for the couple whose homes are in Khar and Bandra. We captured their special moments at the picturesque pool-side lawns for which Ritika wore elegant ensembles from her new Spring Summer 2014 collection while Nikhil wore the classic combination- white shirt and jeans, teamed with a linen jacket.
The talented designer and dapper industrialist met through common friends over four years ago but they started interacting after Ritika returned from London where she was pursuing her Masters in Fashion Entrepreneurship. Says Nikhil: “I liked her the first time we met, and I was sure I wanted to meet her again. We didn’t exchange numbers, but we met a few more times thanks to our friends. The more I interacted with her, the more I was certain she was the one for me.” But soon after, Nikhil had to move to the US to pursue his MBA and when Ritika got to hear of it, she wasn’t sure if they should take the effort to get closer. “But”, says Nikhil “I was 100% sure, and I knew our long-distance relationship would work”. Explains Ritika: “I was thinking on the lines of…’let us see’ how all this works as it is difficult to start with a long-distance relationship but Nikhil being a guy who ‘plans’ everything thought very differently. Later he told me how he actually thought of a ‘strategy’ to make this work.” And one of Nikhil’s plans included making a phone call to Ritika as soon as he landed in the US. “He called me from Chicago O’Hare Airport. After our one hour long phone chat, we felt much closer and it was a turning point in our lives.”
Ritika and Nikhil’s chic engagement ceremony was held on 6th July at the Shangri-la (now Palladium) Hotel in Mumbai. And in a week from now their wedding celebrations will begin. Ritika wanted a stylish and elegant wedding ceremony and Nikhil wanted a destination wedding, so they chose to have their three day destination wedding in Jaipur and the post-wedding reception is in Mumbai. Their parents, family members and Wedding Planners are taking care of the major responsibilities so Ritika and Nikhil admit they are quite stress-free. “Wedding Planning has been a fun experience, and what has been equally fun and interesting, is planning our honeymoon itinerary with ‘A Travel Duet‘. After the reception on 20th February, we are looking forward to travelling to Brazil and Argentina and discovering the places we’ve always wanted to travel to.”
WeddingSutra wishes the beautiful couple a lot of luck and happiness in their journey ahead!
