Love Actually- Shraddha and Ashok’s Platinum Day of Love

By Jaspreet Soni

Our new initiative ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates the beautiful people in love as they start their lives together. Because real love can only begin, never end.

Shraddha and Ashok, both Finance Professionals met each other through some common friends. Ashok felt instantly attracted to Shraddha’s shy nature and when the tennis enthusiast got to know that she is an ace tennis player he was even more attracted to her. “She had defeated Sania Mirza at a National level championship”, says a beaming Ashok. He made the first move asking for her ‘BBM pin’. “So you can guess this was some years ago– when we all started using Blackberrys”, quips Shraddha. After that their conversations became more frequent both online and offline.

Ashok behaved like a perfect gentleman when he asked Shraddha’s sister, his friend, for permission to take Shraddha out on a date. This gesture tugged Shraddha’s heartstrings. She had fallen for him. And whenever Shraddha visited Mumbai (she is from Pune), they spent a lot of time together at the CCI (Cricket Club of India) getting to know each other. The Dome at Intercontinental became one of their favorite haunts where they would bond over sports and food. Ashok would travel a lot for his official work; one day Shraddha surprised him by coming unannounced at the airport to pick him up.  They now knew that the bond was much stronger and deeper, and they were ready to commit.

Ashok believes that it is their strong friendship that laid the foundation for their deep love. He says, “We are friends first. We can discuss anything under the sun without any garb or pretense and know that the other person will understand.” Ashok decided to propose in a very special way. He planned a treasure hunt on an elaborate scale, it started from the Jiva Spa at Taj Wellington Mews, Colaba, then Palladium Mall in Lower Parel and ended at CCI, the place that marked the beginning of their relationship, where he had arranged an elegant celebration to announce their engagement.

Shraddha and Ashok wanted their love for tennis to be captured eternally in frames. Their photographer friend Parag Gopale did a very interesting ‘game, set, match’ and ‘platinum rings’ shoot on the tennis court. “This was a very interesting experience on the courts”, says Parag, “after all the clean background and bright green tennis balls, add an amazing color touch.” True, its a great idea for all couples who share a love for tennis. And for those couples who aren’t tennis players, look for inspiration from another love the two of you share, whether it be a sport, movie, location or even color.
