5 Bespoke Offerings for Grooms-to-be

With a wedding in question, Vogue experts understand that the groom- to-be is as much the focus as a bride-to-be is. Towards this effect, the Vogue Wedding Show 2014, offers a mix of elements for the menfolk; traditional Indian wear, luxury watches, bespoke suits and much more. The participating designers like Tarun Tahiliani, Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi and JJ Valaya are showcasing their collection for grooms and there is also a mini luxury watch pavilion with brands like Vacheron Constantin and Jaeger Lecoultre- clearly a category that men love. Apart from this there will be a showcase of made-to-measure men’s suits, styling tips for the groom from Vogue experts and a very exclusive Malts appreciation session with an International Mixologist.

From the biggest fashion trends to follow to exclusive styling tips; there is much that awaits you, in the STYLING TIPS FOR THE GROOM master-class session with Vogue Expert- Anaita Adajania Shroff. According to Anaita, one can see a return to old -world-charm sensibility, especially when it comes to men’s fashion for wedding wear; use of a lot of rich fabric, jewelled tones, and uncut stones for embellishments to give that look of regal splendour.  Because, the wedding functions are so spread out, today, you have the choice to experiment with various styles and fabrics; well-tailored suits for cocktails, linens for mehndi etc. The safas are no longer the simple orange or red, but use beautiful brocade work. The mojaris are also increasingly becoming a popular choice of accessory with a lot of them getting customized.   There are three strong trends: the use of gold, but in the sense of a more old world and therefore dull gold.  Ivory, is always in trend and Velvet, but used in highlights. Using tone on tone and self-motifs in the design is also in style, currently. Embroidered Jodhpurs, jewelled tone ajkan with white jodhpurs are some of the popular looks.

1. Grooms  wear by Tarun Tahiliani
According to couturier, Tarun Tahiliani, grooms should wear whatever they are comfortable in and also select pieces that reflect their personal style and not follow trends blindly. What has been a great hit is that because of structured draping in menswear, it has enabled men to wear silhouettes like never before. “The last time I wore a dhoti was about 15-18 years back which came off and now I am wearing it again because thanks to the draping expertise, one can wear pre-draped pants and dhotis and keep the elegance of another time but again in a contemporary way”.
