Getting lucky with the Luxury Lodges of New Zealand: Winning couple share their story

Ayush and Radhika’s honeymoon journey is what dreams are made of. Last year, they approached A Travel Duet to plan their honeymoon to New Zealand. At the time of initial planning they chose to stay at a premier accommodation, one of the luxury lodges. As a consortium of exclusive high-end accommodations, the Luxury Lodges of New Zealand provide some of the most intimate, personalised experiences for travelers visiting New Zealand. The lodges are managed by owners who are passionate about their regions and have a deep knowledge of cuisine, fine wines and unique experiences.

When Ayush found out that the Luxury Lodges were holding a contest for honeymooners wherein they could enter to win a free 4 nights stay at two of these beautiful lodges, he immediately signed up. Among the bunch of couples who signed up, Ayush and Radhika were one of the three couples who won the free stays. Says Ayush: “at the time of planning they were running a contest and the winner would get 2 nights free stay at any two Luxury Lodges of NZ. Encouraged by Pritish Shah, the Founder of A Travel Duet, we applied for the contest and to our surprise won. Thanks to Pritish and his team at A Travel Duet, we got to stay at 2 of the best lodges in NZ, and had an amazing trip.

We spoke to this lovely couple from Kolkata about the high points from their honeymoon and this is what they picked:

Scenic drives
The highest main road in New Zealand is also the one with the best views. Surrounded by the Remarkables range, farmlands and winding roads, this is a drive they loved the most.

Drop dead gorgeous cottages
The elegant Wharekauhau Lodge won Ayush & Radhika’s vote for the most gorgeous of their stays. Built in an Edwardian country style, the cottages make fairy tale novels come alive. The suites are tastefully designed with a king sized bed, fireplace and open verandahs- best for gazing at the panoramic vistas.

Fine dining experience
Imagine a five-course degustation dinner made with the best seasonal ingredients, home grown organically, prepared by a master chef in your presence. That’s what the dining experience at Whare Kea Lodge is all about.

Spontaneous adventures
Ayush and Radhika thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Rotorua’s natural hot water spring at Kerosene Creek surrounded by bushes and with its very own little waterfall. Thermal springs are known to be relaxing and can even heal aches and pains. This little adventure turned out to be a highlight for these love birds!

Adrenaline rush
What’s a holiday in New Zealand without jumping off a plane or doing a 360 in the skies or kayaking through secret bays and pristine blue oceans? The couple here enjoyed all of that and is already waiting to return to this paradise!
