A Grand Wedding@ Grant Hyatt, Goa

Vritika from Mumbai wed businessman Siddharth Bansal at Grand Hyatt, Goa. Says Vritika: “Ours is an arranged marriage but it never felt like it was. We met on December 13th 2011 and by December 15th we knew the inevitable. The Roka ceremony was held on 25th December at Taj Palace in New Delhi”.

The four day wedding affair was managed by Vritika’s parents. She says: “Wedding Planning was stress-free since my parents gladly took care of all co-ordination. In the months leading to the wedding, I had the luxury of spending a lot of time for ideas and inspiration on what to wear, and give inputs on decor—so I spent hours and more hours browsing through WeddingSutra.com.” Vritika’s main responsibility was to select and order the wedding cards.

“We chose Ravish Kapoor, I instantly fell in love with his Saat Phera concept wedding box. It was a one-of-a-kind concept, and Siddharth and I wrote our own wedding vows on the card.” “The welcome dinner was held by the beach. The next day i.e. 8th March being Holi, the festival of colors, we played Phoolon Ki Holi (holi with flower petals) and prayed to Lord Krishna & Radha. The cocktail party took place the same night. The Carnival theme Mehendi ceremony was held the next day by the lawns of Grand Hyatt. The Engagement & Sangeet was an entertainment packed evening with dances by family & friends. The traditional wedding was held at sunset with the Arabian Sea as a beautiful backdrop.”

‘Grand’ Baaja Baraat!

Genelia D’Souza and Riteish Deshmukh’s wedding is going to be a ‘Grand’ affair literally. The Bollywood stars wedding celebrations are at Mumbai’s Grand Hyatt Hotel. While media reports state the ceremonies are between February 4th and 6th, sources from the Grand Hyatt indicate it is sometime around that time. While it is unlikely that the family will hire a Wedding Planner, they haven’t finalised on the company that will manage the set-ups and decor; and some of Mumbai’s best Wedding Decorators are making all efforts to get a link to Maharashtra’s most prominent political family. Grand Hyatt of course is deluged with requests from wedding vendors, and calls from the media; keeping in mind all the security and privacy issues the General Manager and core team have put together a detailed instructions manual for all the teams– so for as long as possible, they’d even like to keep the date a ‘secret’.

Earlier Riteish’s eldest brother Amit, got married at Grand Hyatt and soon after Riteish’s marriage, his elder brother (Dheeraj) will marry Honey who is Producer Vashu Bhagnani’s daughter. In 2009 Shilpa Shetty’s wedding reception was held at the Grand Hyatt Ballroom. But the most spectacular yet elegant wedding that took place at the Hotel was in 2010, when the Hotel owner Arun Saraf’s son Varun married Natasha Mittal, the niece of Laxmi Mittal. The Sarafs who live in a mansion-size apartment on the top floor of the Grand Hyatt, hosted two functions at their Hotel, while the other functions were hosted by the Mittals in other hotels.

Bollywood’s ace choreographer Ganesh Hegde wed his long-time girlfriend Sunayna Shetty on Sunday, 5th June. The morning wedding was an intimate ceremony, and the evening reception at the Grand Ball Room in Grand Hyatt saw a star turnout.

Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan were there, and so was Shahrukh Khan. Shilpa Shetty came in a gorgeous orange Abu-Sandeep churidar kurta while her sister Shamita wore a pretty pastel Manish Malhotra saree. The other actresses present included Priyanka Chopra, Juhi Chawla, Rajeshwari, Shriya Saran and Sophie Chowdhary.

Choreographer Ganesh Hegde’s Grand Reception@ Grand Hyatt, Mumbai

This weekend Bollywood’s top stars will be attending ace choreographer Ganesh Hegde’s wedding celebrations. The traditional wedding ceremony is on 5th June and will be held as per Bunt traditions (Ganesh and his bride Sunayna Shetty are both from the Bunt community). The wedding will be an intimate affair and a grand reception will be held in the evening @ the Grand Ball Room of Grand Hyatt, Mumbai (SRK is expected to attend the reception).

The wedding invite is a red silk box—with chocolates and gold work. We heard they’ve been designed by Delhi-based Ravish Kapoor who opened his Mumbai studio last year, a few months after he made news for the wedding invite he designed for actress Shilpa Shetty.

Ganesh has known Sunayna for close to 10 years. Sunayna used to style Ganesh’s looks for most of his shows and music videos. Ganesh has choreographed many hit tracks and regularly choreographs most of the award functions of the B-town.

Hyatt owner’s son to wed

15th May and 16th May will the busiest wedding days in Mumbai this year. Many couples are tying the knot on these two auspicious dates. Varun Saraf, son of construction magnate Arun Saraf is marrying Natasha Mittal, daughter of business tycoon Vinod Mittal (Laxmi Mittal’s brother). The crème-de-la-crème of Mumbai and London is looking forward to attending the wedding which many state will be ‘the wedding of the year’.

Natasha studied at Wharton, then worked at Morgan Stanley and is now working with her father in the Ispat group. Varun studied at Tufts and is now working with his father who also happens to be the owner of the Grand Hyatt hotel. Sources inform us that the Sarafs and the Mittals have been busy scouting for the best wedding vendors—for stuff from trousseau packing, wedding décor and innovative give-aways to the guests. Two of the wedding functions will be at Grand Hyatt itself while the other pre and post wedding functions will be held elsewhere—we too are curious to know the ‘what will be held where’ details so watch this space for more!
