White Theme Wedding Reception@ Lalit, Mumbai

After the traditional wedding celebration at ISKCON Temple, Hema Malini & Dharmendra and Pooja & Vijay Takhtani hosted a grand reception to celebrate the union of Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani. The turn-out was huge, over 2000 guests, and the who’s who from the world of bollywood, business and politics were there. Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu, Bollywood Diva Rekha, Sanjay Khan, Zeenat Aman, Jeetendra, Madhuri Dixit, Salman Khan, Tabu and Kajol, Vidya Balan. Politician Chaggan Bhujbal was one of the first to arrive, also present were BJP leaders LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitly.

The whole venue had a very dreamy & white feel with lots of crystals. With so many guests, there was a serpentine line in front of the stage where the newly-weds with their parents greeted the guests. It was a dry day but the lack of spirits did not dampen the enthusiasm in the air, it was bonding time for the bollywood fraternity, and many others had an enjoyable time celeb-spotting. Shera (Salman Khan’s bodyguard) whose company Tiger Security had taken on security management had to repeatedly request the guests not to crowd around the VIP lounge next to the stage. The star of the show was Hema Malini who looked every bit gorgeous in a white saree and who orchestrated such a wonderful wedding celebration for her dear daughter. All eyes were on the sweet-looking sister of the bride Ahana who stayed away from the stage, and was enjoying the company of her friends.

The Dream Girl may have had a very quiet, secret wedding, but she made sure her daughter’s wedding was very different—what was special about this occasion, was that she invited all her close friends to all the functions, making the celebration a grand finale.

Hema Malini sends out Wedding Invites

Hema Malini’s daughter is tying the knot and B-town is eagerly looking forward to the wedding. Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani’s wedding card, designed by Mumbai’s famed invitation card company Multi Creation features Radha-Krishna paintings. The inserts for the different functions are placed in an exclusive re-usable gold color box, and have been delivered with delicious dry fruit ladoos. The bag in which the ladoos and invitations box are kept features the couple’s wedding logo- the Lotus with their initials.

The celebrations to be held at different venues commence next week. Hema Malini is of course most busy with the wedding preparations, which are being managed by Shailesh Gandhi of Discovery Events.

Actress Esha Deol is Engaged

Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s eldest daughter actress Esha Deol got engaged to businessman Bharat Takhtani at an intimate ceremony that took place at Hema Malini’s Juhu bungalow.  The theme for the Engagement was pink and white. The guests included family, the couple’s very close friends and Hema Malini’s cousin Madhoo Shah. Hema’s four-storeyed bunglow on 12th Road@ JVPD Scheme was decorated with lots of pink and white flowers, and guests were treated to sumptuous North Indian and South Indian delicacies. The gifts and favors for the groom and the guests were beautifully packaged by Hema’s neighbour Dr Kirti Desai, a popular trousseau packer in Juhu. Later in the evening, the newly-engaged couple hosted a party on their bungalow terrace.

Esha looked very pretty in a pink sari with green embellishments, teamed with minimalist jewellery. Hema Malini when asked about the marriage date told reporters, “it will happen soon and we will make an announcement.”

Beige, black and white for the Wedding Guests

The who’s who of Mumbai and Delhi attended Gurpal Chawla and Sumeen Singh’s wedding at The Imperial in Delhi. It was so nice to see young and old Bollywood beauties in traditional Indian wear. While the older ones looked more than elegant, the younger ones looked beautiful in their fully clothed avtar. Beige and brown, black and white were the favorite color picks of the guests who revealed how muted colors and understated embroidery look perfect for wedding guests. We loved Shilpa Shetty’s white and gold saree accessorized beautifully with a gold clutch bag. Hema Malini looked young in a pretty pink saree coordinated with diamonds and pearls. Her daughter Esha looked smart in a beige chiffon saree with a black border. Neetu Singh looked stunning in a traditional white salwar kameez with big gold leaf motifs. Pinky Roshan in a dark blue silk saree and the big red bindi on her forehead reminded us that bindis make an Indian woman look very feminine. Ekta Kapoor shunned her usual power look and opted for a brownish beige outfit with dull gold and silver embroidery.
