If both the Ambani brothers and their wives are attending a wedding outside Mumbai, you can be sure about two things. One, the wedding will be most high profile affair and second, there will be media speculation on whether both the couples are staying in the same hotel. Last weekend, the Ambani brothers, their wives Tina and Nita Ambani and mother Kokilaben were in Jaipur to attend the wedding of Saloni Surana from the famed Surana Jewellers family. Saloni married Rishabh, son of Cyril Shroff, Managing Partner of Amarchand & Mangalas & Shroff, India’s prominent law firm.
The wedding was a traditional affair, at the historical Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur. The other functions included a Rajasthani evening where Ila Arun entertained the guests, the Sangeet at City Palace where popular band Aasma belted hits, an Elephant polo match and a late-night movie screening at a Multiplex. Reports state the Suranas and Shroffs chartered over 15 planes, and hired over 650 luxury cars to ferry the many VIP and international guests who included Kumaramangalam Birla, Manali and Dilip Vengsarker, Arvind Singh Mewar and politicos P. Chidambaram, Prafull Patel and Ashok Gehlot. The reception is in Mumbai tonight.
Surana Jewellers, an intrinsic part of Jaipur’s heritage, are known for their fine craftsmanship since centuries, creating exceptional pieces of jewellery, reminiscent of the royal era. While they only have one expansive store in Jaipur, occasionally they organise exclusive exhibitions to showcase their aesthetic fusion of the traditional and contemporary to high net worth clients in India and abroad.

Prince Shivraj Singh, 35 married Askot’s princess Gayatri Kumari, 21 in Jaipur at a wedding that was out-of-bounds for the press. Though some publications referred to it as a very grand royal wedding, we heard that it was actually a low-key affair by Royal standards. But everybody who was somebody was there—royalty, corporate chiefs, political bigwigs.
The traditional celebrations for Maharaja Gaj Singh’s son included pre-wedding celebrations in Jodhpur and the wedding in Jaipur. Around 14 charter planes landed at Jaipur’s Sanganer Airport and the guests included industrialists Kumar Mangalam Birla, Swati Piramal and Gautam Singhania, politician Amar Singh and King Gyanendra Singh and actor Kabir Bedi. Around 300 baraatis dressed in traditional Rajput finery assembled at the Rambagh Palace. The royal procession was led by an elephant followed by the Manganiyar and Langa folk musicians. Then came the horses from the royal stabls and the lavajma. The post-wedding reception takes place at Umaid Bhawan Jodhpur on November 22.
UK meanwhile is speculating about Britain’s biggest wedding. Prince William and Kate Middleton got engaged in the State Rooms of St James’s Palace, London on 16th November. William and Kate announced that they will marry in spring or summer 2011 but the couple have not revealed a date or venue. It will be Britain’s biggest wedding since Charles and Diana’s 30 years ago and is expected to be a national holiday. Up to two million well-wishers are expected to turn up to cheer the couple and news reports state that government officials, security chiefs and religious leaders have started outlining plans.

Hollywood’s A-List couple to wed near Ranthambore
Oct 22, 2010 Celeb Weddings to Watch out for
It’s a Hollwood meets Bollywood theme wedding for American pop star Katy Perry and British comedian Russell Brand. The couple landed in India for their very private wedding which reportedly takes place on Saturday. The wedding venue Aman-I-Khas (combining aman, or “peace”, in Sanskrit, and khás, or “special”, in Urdu and Hindi) is an exclusive wilderness camp, located adjacent to the famous Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve near Jaipur. Aman-I-Khas is run by the famous Aman Group and has around ten luxury tents each echoing a rich Mughal style with rooms separated by cotton drapes. The best Travel sites recommend the luxury tents as an astonishing place like no other, in settings enjoyed by erstwhile Emperors who travelled with their entourages during the hunting season.
The four days of celebrations begin tonight and we hear all the arrangements are being managed by Celebrity Wedding Planner Mindy Weiss. Russell’s close pals including Jonathan Ross, Noel Gallagher, David Williams and Singer Morrisey and Katy’s pop star friends Rihanna and Taylor Swift are expected to attend. According to media reports, Katy’s wedding dress is being designed by Lebanese designer Reem Reem Acra; she has picked creations by Indian designers too—like Bridal wear designers Falguni and Shane Peacock and Delhi-based jewellery designer Hanut Singh.
Russell proposed to Perry when they were staying at The Presidential Suite at the Taj Rambagh Palace, Jaipur. He asked the hotel to set up a candlelit dinner for which the couple arrived in a horse carriage. They ate under the stars and at midnight enjoyed a fireworks show while sitting on an elephant. Russell presented Katy some flowers in which he hid the engagement ring.

Katrina-Salman Jodi in Jaipur
May 29, 2010 Celeb Weddings to Watch out for, Celebrity Wedding Pictures
Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan are at a colourful and flamboyant shaadi in Jaipur! Rajasthan’s heavy-weight politician Bina Kak’s singer daughter Amrita is tying the knot with Delhi business baron Riju Jhunjhunwala. While it is confirmed that both Katrina and Salman are there, the rumour doing the rounds is that the super stars are attending different functions and are not making an appearance together.
Bride Amrita, a playback singer schooled at Ajmer’s Mayo College and studied at Mumbai’s St Xaviers College. She and her politician mother Bina Kak, now a Minister in the Rajasthan Government made their Bollywood debut in the same film in 2005—David Dhawan’s Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya. Bina played the role of Salman’s bossy mother, and Amrita sang ‘Just Chill’. During the shoot, Bina became close to Katrina and Salman and since then, in the typical bollywood glam meets political power equation, Salman has been regularly sighted with the Kaks. Last year when Ankur, Bina Kak’s son tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Milan Rai, Salman added glam to the wedding celebrations. He danced and led the baraat which consisted of the who’s who from the world of Bollywood and Politics.
