Jul 25, 2011 Bridal Shows & Wedding Exhibitions, Fashion & Bridal Wear
Valaya translated his love for photography into his latest collection titled Tasveer for the Delhi Couture Week 2011. Valaya’s outfits followed the evolving palate of the still image, starting with black & white, sepia, hand-stained, natural and finally culminating in digital. The color pallete evolved from gold, fuschia pink, candy pink, reds, copper to peacock blue and dark purple. Valaya’s classic Alika jackets were the star of the collection and also on display were sarees with elaborate zari borders, sequin work and semi-precious stone embroideries, short bandhgala kurtas over churidars and jackets with dramatic sleeves paired with churidars. The evening ended with the exquisite wedding collection and we are drooling over the bridal ensemble worn by Valaya’s muse Sapna Kumar.

Gul, a sports enthusiast and adventure-lover has been dating Rishi for over a decade but their relationship has been hush-hush. Her wedding date was a secret, though it was not a very small affair. Over 200 family and friends were present at the traditional Sikh wedding in Chandigarh where Gul’s father former Army Commander Lt Gen Panag and her family live. The media was kept away, but managed the capture the moments after the couple stepped out and drove on the Royal Enfields. Passer-by’s in Chandigarh stopped by looking surprised at what the newly-weds were upto!
Gul wore an onion-pink lehenga designed by JJ Valaya with heavy necklace and earrings. The turbaned groom Gurshinder Singh Attari (populary known as Rishi) wore an off-white sherwani.

The wedding cavalcade drove in 10 brand new bullets and escorted Gul and Panag to the Bella Vista Hotel. Interestingly there were many women some even in their 60s who drove the 350 cc bikes ahead of the newly-weds.

After the wedding everyone danced to the beats of a dhol outside the Gurudwara. Gul’s dear friend actress Koel Puri was quoted in a Chandigarh newspaper: “This is fabulous. I have never experienced something like this before,”

Valaya’s Alika – a bride’s dreams come true
Jul 24, 2010 Fashion & Bridal Wear
Inspired by a fictional character ‘Alika’, Valaya’s line at Delhi Couture Week had elegant saris, lehengas paired with sexy cholis and long jackets, short kurtas with skin-fit chudidars and achakans and angrakhas for men. Valaya also introduced ‘Alika’ jackets – a cross between a jacket and a shirt, kind of inspired by the traditional Garhwali garment “Sadri”. Kangana Ranaut who walked the runway in an exquisite bridal ensemble couldn’t stop gushing about the clothes.

May 11, 2010 Celeb Weddings to Watch out for

Sujata Assomull Editor of Harper’s Bazaar is marrying her ex colleague Jaideep Sippy this month-end. Mumbai’s fashion and style community are looking forward to the wedding functions at Blue Frog, Mayfair Rooms and the Regal Room at The Trident. Sujata’s friends can’t wait to see how the ace stylist will style her own wedding look. Sujata, who has styled high-profile fashion shoots for so many years, says she didn’t have trouble figuring out whom she wanted to wear—because since long she always dreamt of wearing a Tarun Tahiliani on her big day. She says: “Tarun Tahiliani and Anamika Khanna—both designers know what I want and always design what I like. Anamika has designed my dresses for the Mehendi and Sangeet function. And I’m wearing a Tarun Tahiliani for the Wedding and Reception.” For the pre-wedding party at Blue Frog, Sujata is wearing a gown by the world renowned New York based boutique Oscar de la Renta. Jaideep’s wear is from Hemant Sagar and JJ Valaya.
On Wedding Planning, Sujata says she experienced the biggest stress on figuring out the date. “There wasn’t one date which was convenient to all us—me, Jaideep, our parents and our close family and friends. Finally, we zeroed in on this date in May. If Tarun Tahiliani knows what she wants on the look and clothes front, on Wedding arrangements, Sujata says her Mom knows best. “All the arrangements are being taken care of by my mother. She is very knowledge-able about all things weddings, she understands what I want and is the best Wedding Planner.”

Power Packed Weddings @ Udaipur
Feb 17, 2010 Celebrity Wedding Pictures, Destination Weddings
The city of luxury holidays, played host to two big weddings this week; and both the brides were named Neha. Neha Hiranandani, daughter of construction magnate Surendra Hiranandani married Mumbai’s Varun Jalan, and Ahmedabad’s Neha Kataria wed Kolkata based Ankit Patni.
The Ahmedabad based Katarias hired the most-in-demand exclusive Wedding Planner– Ahmedabad based Saurabh Agarwal of Red Events. The Hiranandani wedding at the Leelas was planned and managed with the help of their office staff.
Guests tell us Neha’s makeup was done by Cory Walia and she wore the most hatke jewellery and bridal lehengas created by Tarun Tahiliani, Sabyasachi and JJ Valaya. On the wedding experience, one guest states: “The wedding was a most classy affair at the most luxurious locale- The Leela”. For Mumbai’s heavy-heights who couldn’t attend the wedding at Udaipur, the Hiranandanis host the wedding reception at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai today.
Friends of the Hiranandanis are also talking in hushed tones about the absence of Priti Hiranandani, the bride’s mother at the wedding. Priti and Surendra Hiranandani divorced last year— Surendra is now seeing Alka Kapoor (actor Akshay Kumar’s sister), while Priti remarried recently. What apparently angered the Hiranandani family (including daughter Neha) is that Priti didn’t wait for her daughter Neha to marry, and decided to tie the knot earlier. So Priti Hiranandani was not even invited to her daughter’s wedding!
For the pheras, Neha Kataria wore an ornate, bling-bling outfit which some say was created by Delhi’s Anjalee and Arjun Kapur. And guests guess, that this ‘out of the world’ outfit, could have cost anywhere between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 6 lakh!
