Business Maharajas only think ‘It can’t get better than this’

Some super-rich industrialists would like their child’s wedding to be extravaganza of excess—like what Pinky and Sanjay Reddy organized in Hyderabad. While some would like it be a fairy-tale wedding, with an intimate feel and the scale just perfect—like the one Sangita and Sajjan Jindal hosted in Florence. Whatever be the scale, what matters most is ‘It can’t get better than this’.

Invitations with Personalized gifts
The cards seldom go out alone. Nowadays, it’s with personalized gifts like an exquisite photo frame with the guests name and photograph. Other popular accompaniments include candle stands from Ravissant, designer watches, rare wines and Belgian chocolates.

In the wedding season it’s not uncommon to hear ”Is it the Crystal or Ballroom tonight?” the two majestic rooms at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai. The venue has, is and will always be the most elegant location for the most High Profile Engagements and Power Weddings.

Few families can afford to hire their services, after all the duo spend nearly 400 hours in the film-making exercise to give the bride, groom and their families the experience of film-making at a full production level!

Rockstars and Rappers
Some families want Bollywood super-stars, while some prefer cultural icons like Shubha Mudgal. And some like the Nandas of Delhi, Fabianis of Mumbai and Agarwals of United Kingdom want an international star for the grand finale—like singing sensations Shakira or Akon.

Akon performed at Kajal Fabiani and Gaurav Assomull’s Wedding in Monte Carlo.

Marriage of Cuisines
International chefs are flown in for the occasion, sometimes the menu is matched to the wedding theme and if it’s an overseas wedding, Masterchef Ritu Dalmia steps in as Food consultant. The menu at the wedding isn’t about the number of dishes, but the many cuisines, in all their authentic flavours.

And for those who want an International Guru to design the decor for a Delhi wedding extend an invitation to Preston Bailley.

No prizes for guessing what you’re most likely to hear immediately after the wedding—“It was the most mesmerizing event of the decade.”

Mumbai Celebs shine at Sangeet in Hyderabad

The glitterati tweeted that it was the grandest Indian wedding and best-organised private extravaganza, while fashionistas commented that they had never seen so many people in the most exquisite designer wear under one roof– Pinky and Sanjay Reddy organised a dream wedding for their daughter, and there was so much buzz about the wedding, not just in Hyderabad, but in Mumbai too.

The wedding invite designed by Delhi’s famed Entertainment Design Company (EDC) was an exquisitely carved image of Lord Venkateswara with sweets in a specially designed box, and the special guests even received a ‘wow’ gift alongwith the invite- a Satya Paul or Sabyasachi saree! Here are some of pictures of the Celebs@ the Bollywood theme Sangeet and the Red and Gold theme wedding. The full Bachchan parivaar was there with their friends Tina Ambani and Sonali Bendre-Goldie Behl. Society regulars mother-daughter duo Sharmilla and Shaan Khanna, Mitali and Prahlad Kakkar, Pooja Bedi, Timmy Narang- Esha Koppikar, Poonam Dhillon, Suchitra Pillai, Feroze Gujral and Kaykasshan Patel. Pinky Reddy, a darling patron of some A-list designers, invited many of her designer and fashion editor friends- Rohit Bal, Neeta and Nishka Lulla, Pria Kataria Puri, Laila Motwane, Farah Khan, Anand Kabra, Krishna Mehta, Shalini Sharma and Sujata Assomull. Abu-Sandeep who conceptualised the decor for all the wedding functions, were of course there.

We’re looking forward to seeing pictures of the bride and groom, and would love to know who designed their wedding ensembles. We heard Abu-Sandeep, Tarun Tahiliani, Rohit Bal and Shantanu-Nikhil designed their creations for different functions, while the family members picked traditional creations from Hyderabad-based designers Anand Kabra and Shravan Kumar.

Ash-Salman, Aamir and SRK, Ambani brothers to attend the GVK Wedding

Visualise this: Ash-Abhishek and Salman Khan are in Hyderabad to attend Pinky and Sanjay Reddy’s daughter’s wedding on 11th and 12th June, the couple and Salman Khan are staying in the same hotel, and their suites are on the same floor! Sounds like a joke, doesn’t it, but according to a newspaper report this is true, and after Salman got to know about this he ensured the Reddys arrange for his stay at another hotel. We don’t believe that the Reddys and their super-efficient hospitality management team could have made such a slip-up, but whatever be the case, it makes for an interesting story ‘ex lovers almost bump into each other in Hyderabad’!

Salman-Ash won’t be the only Bollywood stars there, the Reddy’s have rolled out the red carpet for many Industry captains and A-list actors- Anil and Mukesh Ambani, Aamir Khan and SRK, Amitabh-Jaya Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Rani Mukerji. According to reports, the total number of outstation guests is 1200 and a special air-taxi service has been arranged for the three Khans and two chartered aircrafts have been kept on standby for special guests. All the stars will be put up at five different five-star hotels- Novotel, Falaknuma and the three Taj properties co-owned by the GVK Reddy group- Taj Krishna, Taj Banjara and Taj Deccan. The top floors of all the hotels are inaccessible for people without access cards and there are massive security arrangements at the airport and the wedding venues- GMR Arena and HICC where the theme and decor have been conceptualised by Pinky Reddy’s good friends, designer duo Abu Jani- Sandeep Khosla.

Abu-Sandeep Style Directors for GVK Wedding in Hyderabad

Hyderabad’s most high profile industrialists, Pinky and Sanjay Reddy (of GVK group) are hosting their daughter’s wedding in June. And here’s the big news, couture kings Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla are designing the decor and sets for the three big celebrations- the Sangeet, Wedding and Reception. The Wedding Managers are Delhi based E-Factor and Hyderabad-based Dinaz Noria and the functions will be held at the expansive GMR Arena and HICC, not at the GVK owned hotel properties (they co-own three Taj properties in Hyderabad). Both the families (groom’s father Indukuri Syam Prasad Reddy runs Indu Projects) have a huge circle of friends and family, so they needed a venue that could accommodate atleast a few thousand guests. The first celebration is Pellikuture (bride’s getting ready ceremony) at the HICC. It is hosted by politician T.Subbarami Reddy (Pinky Reddy’s father) and the highlight of the evening is a Bharat Natyam recital by Hema Malini.

Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla have, over the years, come to be known for their supremely sublime clothes and somewhat surreal interiors (they have designed actress Dimple Kapadia’s home and their home accessories clients include Hollywood stars). Recently, they launched their decadent furniture and accessories line at Sussanne Roshan’s new store The Charcoal Project. But the only time we’ve heard about their involvement for shaadi decor was at Ash-Abhi’s home wedding. A few top couturiers like Tarun Tahiliani have ventured into wedding design & decor. Tahiliani set-up a luxury floral boutique in association with Ferns n Petals and his creative talent was seen at a Munjal wedding, Sanjeev Nanda’s sangeet at a farmhouse and at Krishna Bhupal’s (Sanjay Reddy’s nephew) wedding celebrations at Taj Falaknuma.

Abu-Sandeep also known as the Maharajas of Indian fashion, always maintain that they don’t make garments but heirlooms for their clients like the Bachchans and Mittals, Nita Ambani and Parmeshwar Godrej. What adds to their mystique is that they are extremely selective about who they meet or associate with. Hearsay— they personally meet a prospective bridal client only if her wedding lehenga budget exceeds Rs 10 lakh!

GVK Reddy’s set to host the Grandest Wedding

Sanjay and Pinky Reddy with their daughter
Mallika and son Keshav

When glamorous socialite Pinky Reddy or her parliamentarian father Subbirami Reddy send out an invitation, India’s most powerful people drop everything to mark the date on their calendar. Little wonder the wedding of Pinky Reddy’s daughter is a much-awaited event and expected to be the most spectacular wedding of 2011. Mallika, the 21 year old daughter of Pinky and Sanjay Reddy is engaged to Sidharth Indukuri whose family runs Indu projects, the Hyderabad-based Infrastructure company; this is an arranged match and the big day is in June.

Last year, when Sanjay Reddy’s nephew (his sister Shalini Bhupal’s son) Krishna married Dia, the daughter of a Mumbai-based diamond tycoon, the wedding was referred to as the hottest Society Wedding of the year. The functions included a pre-wedding celebration at Chowmohalla Palace with performances by Sonu Nigam, percussionist Sivamini, Louis Banks and Hariharan. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the event in the form of a poetic narration, written and narrated by Poet Iqbal Patni. The wedding was at Mumbai’s Cooperage ground and the post-wedding party at the Taj Falaknuma Palace where the decor was designed by Tarun Tahiliani. We hear that for Mallika’s wedding, GVK Reddys, popularly known as Hyderabad’s first family, are inviting between 6 and 7,000 guests, and the three main events, all to be managed by three different event management companies will be held at an expansive ground.

The billion-dollar GVK Group run by father-son duo GVK and Sanjay Reddy have several business interests, one of them is GVK Airports which undertook modernization and expansion of Mumbai and Delhi Airports. GVK Reddy’s wife Indira Reddy takes care of the group’s hotel business—they co-own 5 Taj Properties. Pinky Reddy manages the family’s charities and social responsibility initiatives. Considered every designer’s darling patron, Pinky is known as much for her down-to-earth nature as her high-flying lifestyle. The couple have two children, Mallika who has just returned to Hyderabad after completing studies in London and son Keshav, 19 who is studying in the US.
