May 11, 2010 Celeb Weddings to Watch out for
Sujata Assomull Editor of Harper’s Bazaar is marrying her ex colleague Jaideep Sippy this month-end. Mumbai’s fashion and style community are looking forward to the wedding functions at Blue Frog, Mayfair Rooms and the Regal Room at The Trident. Sujata’s friends can’t wait to see how the ace stylist will style her own wedding look. Sujata, who has styled high-profile fashion shoots for so many years, says she didn’t have trouble figuring out whom she wanted to wear—because since long she always dreamt of wearing a Tarun Tahiliani on her big day. She says: “Tarun Tahiliani and Anamika Khanna—both designers know what I want and always design what I like. Anamika has designed my dresses for the Mehendi and Sangeet function. And I’m wearing a Tarun Tahiliani for the Wedding and Reception.” For the pre-wedding party at Blue Frog, Sujata is wearing a gown by the world renowned New York based boutique Oscar de la Renta. Jaideep’s wear is from Hemant Sagar and JJ Valaya.
On Wedding Planning, Sujata says she experienced the biggest stress on figuring out the date. “There wasn’t one date which was convenient to all us—me, Jaideep, our parents and our close family and friends. Finally, we zeroed in on this date in May. If Tarun Tahiliani knows what she wants on the look and clothes front, on Wedding arrangements, Sujata says her Mom knows best. “All the arrangements are being taken care of by my mother. She is very knowledge-able about all things weddings, she understands what I want and is the best Wedding Planner.”

Samudra Mahal @ Worli whose residents include the crème de la crème of Mumbai- and Regal Room, The Trident played host to the wedding of Gaurav Sethi, grandson of eminent cardiologist Dr B K Goyal and son of Rajiv Sethi of Omega Builders; Gaurav Sethi wed Neha Arya. And the Sethi family chose the AKA (A Klass Apart run by Divya Chadha and Neha Chadha) team to coordinate and plan the wedding functions hosted by their side. The celebrations started with a red carpet paparrazi Filmy Fare Youngsters party at Dragon Fly restaurant where guests were welcomed on a red carpet and checked off on the guestlist. The guests were in for a surprise to find their favourite couple splashed across life size posters of some of the best Hollywood and Bollywood movies.
The mehendi lunch was tailor made to recreate a mela village theme with bright reds and yellows across the Samudra Mahal lawns; with a specially created canopy for the Mehendi to take place. Live chaat counters; tarot card readers and kite flyers dotted the lawns alongside a very authentic bullock cart !
The sangeet, held at Regal Room, was the highlight and designed as Classy and Contemporary– something AKA stands for. DJ Whosane and percussionist Jonqui had the crowd on the dance floor till the early hours of the morning!
