| AD Singh gets 'bowled' over... |
 |
AD
Singh, the CEO of the hugely popular Galaxy Bowling Company, Mumbai is
almost synonymous with the world of entertainment and events. Till recently,
the 40-year-old was considered one of Mumbai's most eligible bachelors.
"I was one of the greatest exponents of being single. For me, it was important
to meet the right person, who I wished would be my partner for life, even
it meant waiting for 15 long years."
On the midnight of 31st December 1999, AD proposed to Sabina, who works
with British Airways. It was but natural that Mumbai's entertainment czar
would host an offbeat wedding. AD Singh's wedding ceremony signifies a
new trend, that the wedding is not necessarily hosted in the place where
the bride or groom or their parents reside. Rather, it is held at a place
which the bride and groom truly enjoy.
From 22nd March onwards, AD and Sabina will play host to a select 150
family members and friends in Goa. True to his innovative form, AD has
organised a few functions where the guests can simply chill out and enjoy
themselves in the verdant locales of the mesmerizing city.
Says AD: "My secret desire was to get married in a Church. The beautiful
structures of the institution and the images of a Church wedding in movies
always held a special place in my mind. But since that was not feasible,
me and Sabina opted for another peaceful locale."

Singh will marry Sabina, on 23rd April. He shares with us his wedding
recipe. |
| Mumbai
is hot, crowded and the wedding venues are overdone. So why not
host your wedding in a city where you do not reside. |
| I
wanted to host a 'relaxed' wedding where my family and friends could
enjoy themselves. Goa with its laid-back style served as the perfect
environ. |
| The
dress code at my wedding is 'cool smart'; I certainly don't expect
guests to let their hair down in suits or sarees. |
| My
wedding reception at the Taj Holiday Village does not begin from
'8.00 p.m. onwards'. Instead, the guests have been invited from
'sunset' onwards. So they can pamper themselves with a swim before
the wedding reception. |
| The
wedding is being organised at a 260-year-old bungalow alongside
the sea. We're putting up the wedding stage in the middle of the
waters. |
| In
North Indian weddings, the groom usually arrives in a horse, a concept
that never appealed to me. So I'll be reaching the wedding venue
by boat. |
