Astha wears flowy creations by Shantanu-Nikhil, Manish Malhotra and
Sabyasachi for Udaipur wedding

Astha Sharma married her childhood sweetheart Saurabh Khetan, a
business tycoon at a grand wedding on June 26, 2009. The wedding was
held in Udaipur, Saurabh and Astha’s home town; after Astha completed
her college in UK she returned to India to join Unilever, Mumbai where
she worked on Lakme and Lakme Fashion Week. Saurabh and Astha now live
in Udaipur.

Says Astha: “Since I had worked on Lakme Fashion Week, I had
interacted extensively with many prominent designers—so I was very
clear who I liked, and what unique creation I wanted to wear for each
wedding function.” Astha’s picks were Sabyasachi, who designed a red
and a blue creation with antique embroidery for the main wedding
function, a pink Manish Malhotra for the Sangeet, a rust colored
lehenga by her good friend Rahul Misra for the Mehendi and a
Shantanu-Nikhil outfit for the pool party. Adds Astha: “The wedding
was in peak summer in Udaipur—so I requested all the designers to
create grand yet light and flowy creations. The result was some really
cool creations which I not only loved, but in which I could move
around easily.”

Astha who loves wearing traditional Indian prints, colors and sarees,
picked most of her trousseau from Jaipur, a city she recommends as a
must-visit destination for every bride who whose style is Indian. She
says: “My three favorite shopping destinations in Jaipur are Vasansi,
for their sheer variety, Rukmani for their beautiful French chiffons
and designer Nidhi Tholia for her excellent cuts and value-for-money
creations.”
