7 Destination Wedding Venues We Want To Visit In 2015
Destination Weddings, Travel & Honeymoon - Jan 9, 2015
Almost every day, we’re transported to a beautiful place somewhere in India or the world. This virtual vacation comes about each morning, when we receive Press Releases from amazing Hotel properties and photographs from WeddingSutra readers, Wedding Planners and Photographers.
This year, we want to visit these seven wedding locations. And if you have any suggestions or are getting married at a gorgeous destination venue, please write to us—we’re always eager to learn more and we’ll try our best to be there!
Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul
Istanbul has become one of the most preferred international wedding destinations for billionaires. It’s a shopper’s paradise, a gourmet’s delight and a center of culture with ancient Ottoman palaces, treasury of miniature art and architectural marvels. The 186 luxurious guestrooms of the Shangri-la offer exquisite views of the city’s skyline and the Bosphorus Strait. The hotel provides an exquisite setting for a charming wedding reception with its old-school world-travel opulence against the old world splendor of Istanbul.
Hotel Caruso, Ravello, Italy
If you’re dreaming of a heavenly European backdrop for your wedding, then the Italian Hotel Caruso is your venue! A former 11th century palace set on cliffs beside the Amalfi Coast, Belmond Hotel Caruso seems to drift on a ‘balcony’ above the Mediterranean Sea. Set at the highest point above the town of Ravello it’s seemingly suspended in the clouds, providing an unparalleled vista and breathtaking views of the coastline below. Complete with luxurious outdoor seating, an incredible infinity pool, sun-drenched terraces, frescoed ceilings, intimate gardens and possibly the most breath-taking scenic backdrop in the world, this is the stuff of dream weddings.
Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa
Boracay is what nature built for romance. And Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort and Spa is easily the island’s most luxurious and romantic destination. Little wonder it hosts one of the highest number of intimate destination weddings in Asia. The peace and solitude here takes your breath away as the clear blue waters from Puka Shell Beach fan out to meet the sky in an endless expanse.
Situated in a sheltered cove alongside two private beaches, the 219 rooms and villas offer panoramic views of the azure Sibuyan Sea. Wedding vows are exchanged at the Pavilion overlooking the sea, the island’s most elegant venue for wedding ceremonies.
Vivanta by Taj – Madikeri, Coorg
With its misty hills and acres of tea and coffee plantations, Coorg is often referred as the Scotland of India. Against the panaromic slopes of the Western Ghats, Vivanta by Taj offers an idyllic and isolated setting for acosy destination wedding, pre and post wedding getaway or anniversary celebration. The 63 eco-friendly rooms and villas are set in little clusters in the bosom of a 180 acre living rainforest. It invites you to unravel surprise after surprise in the most delightful style. Lose yourself in an expansive space which sits within a vibrant hill range at an altitude 4000 ft. The hotel also houses the 30,000sq ft three-level Jiva Grande Spa, a Buddha garden, a strawberry farm and the 3,200sq ft banquet hall called Soiree for weddings and events.
JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa
When the mountains are where you want to go for your wedding, the JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa will charm you with its lush landscapes, dazzling views of the Himalayas and convenient location. The newly opened resort has beautiful grounds for outdoor ceremonies and large banqueting facilities with 4,200 sqft indoor space including the Grand Orchard Ballroom that covers 3,300 sqft area and is the largest in the city. Clearly, it is the new destination wedding hot-spot for those wanting to host an intimate summer wedding in India.
Ritz-Carlton Phulay Bay, Krabi
The stunning hotel featured in the movie The Hangover Part 2, Phulay Bay Ritz-Carlton in Krabi! Phulay Bay is a secluded resort surrounded by beautiful beaches, coral reefs, jungles, and enchanting waterfalls. This breathtaking luxury reserve features 54 one-bedroom pavilions and villas with private plunge pools, sheltered outdoor baths and showers, and un-spoilt views of the ocean. If that isn’t indulgent enough, the ESPA spa, with stepping-stones meandering between beautiful teak walkways and relaxation terraces is surrounded by vegetation and dotted with reflection ponds.
Vivanta by Taj Bentota, Sri Lanka
We’ve attended many weddings in Thailand and Malaysia, Dubai and Mauritius—the newer international locale we haven’t been to yet is Sri Lanka. And there we want to stay at Vivanta by Taj Bentotathat sits beside one of the finest beaches on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka and features modern rooms encased in a building dating back to the Anglo Dutch Colonial period. With picture postcard views of the blue Indian Ocean and sun-drenched beaches, it’s a lovely backdrop for a destination wedding. While you can find the traditional ballroom here for your events, it’s the sea view terrace and beachside lawn that make for a memorable venue.
