Bridal Fashion and Beauty - Feb 4, 2015
India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW) 2015 in Goa- 5th to 7th February
Goa is set to witness the first edition of Gionee Smartphones India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW) 2015, a three-day event exclusively dedicated to resort, swim, beach & cruise and destination weddings. Over 30 established and emerging designers will be participating in the ‘Beach is the New Ramp’ week that will be held across 3 exotic and 5-star destinations in the land of sand, sun and fun.
Amyn Manji, Co-founder of IBFW tells us how mesmerizing catwalk, celebrated trendsetters, glamorous celebrities, retail pop-ups, buzzing after-parties and a fine selection of fashion connoisseurs will transform Goa into a Fashion Paradise. She adds: “This is a very unique property and going further we want to take this to different Beach and Destination Wedding places in India and abroad.”
All top bridal-wear designers and couturiers are now designing for destination weddings, so we are looking forward to seeing the newest collection this week. Here are more details on some of the participating designers and what they are designing for IBFW 2015. Of course, its the grand finale designers Falguni & Shane Peacock’s adventure meets style, Western influences and Indian old school charm collection which we are most looking forward to!
Anjallee & Arjun Kapoor
Arjun Kapoor unleash an enigmatic high-end Indo-Western couture line christened ‘Persia Fantasy’. This destination bridal wear collection is inspired by Persian architecture, encapsulates both traditional and Indo-Western essence, and has strong Mughal colours like scarlet red, olive green, deep ochre, fuchsia.
Rimple and Harpreet Narula
The Delhi-based designer duo will be showcasing their latest collection, ‘Love in Catalonia’, as they revisit their love for travel, which takes them to the cobbled streets of Barcelona, home of Antoni Gaudi, the avant-garde Spanish architect who was one of the pioneers of the Modernista Movement of the late 19th century. Taking inspiration from his art and architecture, kaleidoscopic mosaics and the vivid street-art of Barcelona, the collection is an amalgamation of Art meeting Form meeting Function. It includes structured shirt dresses capped with embellished power shoulders, billowy summer kaftans and columnar sheaths done in sheer Georgettes and luxe Lamé. The color palette flows from soft sepia tones to breezy yellow and reds to glam golds, and enameled sequins, asymmetrical beads, metallic studs and grommets have been juxtaposed over the prints to give the collection an edgy modern twist.

Sounia Gohil
Think dreamy weddings, minimal embellishments and sheer fabrics, the collection titled ‘A Whimsical Tale’ is an assortment of feminine resort wear, lehengas, gowns, jackets, crop tops and separates. The designer says, “‘A Whimsical Tale’ was created for the destination bride, someone who is inspired by fairy tales and mystical characters. The collection encompasses well-layered pieces crafted using lycra, flowy and sheer fabrics with an emphasis on style and elegance. Printed lehengas with intrinsic work inspired by old architecture is the highlight.”
Falguni & Shane Peacock (FSP)
With their grand collection for the Destination Bride, Falguni & Shane Peacock’s ‘Runaway Bride’ collection symbolizes creations for a bride who is spunky, stylish, sexy yet traditional and ethereal. Their collection includes sleek gowns, embellished crops with printed skirts, lighter lehengas, delicate embroidered jackets and fabulous dresses in soft shades of pink, greys, blue, white and aqua green. Tone on tone embroidery in a mix of floral and geometric patterns and their trademark FSP prints will be the highlight of the collection.
