A floral extravaganza in autumn hues, this unique mehndi décor by Amaahyaaj celebrated Indian artisans and their crafts
Wedding Planning - Oct 1, 2020
A bright palette of colors, a profusion of marigolds and all things quirky is what comes to mind when we think of a mehndi function. WeddingSutra Favorite – Amaahyaaj stepped away from the usual with their earthy and creative decor for this mehndi function that celebrated the work of Indian artisans.
The team shared a glimpse of how they went about crafting and executing the concept. ‘While conceptualizing the mehndi function, the couple imagined a unique, unconventional setup that would wow their guests and also showcase our country’s vibrant culture and handicrafts with a contemporary touch. We, at Amaahyaaj, have always believed in creating an experiential journey for every function, and planned a memorable kaleidoscopic soiree.”
The function saw an explosion of flowers that enveloped the whole venue. Roses, lilies and other blooms in dark, jewel tones of crimson and velvet were interspersed with bright pops of colors. A canopy of evergreen tuberoses with multicolored tassels and hand-crafted parrots hung overhead. The chalk blue walls painted with white murals and decked with marigolds created traditional jharokha designs that evoked tender nostalgia of an era gone by. The femininity of the flowers juxtaposed with the sharp geometrical lines of the table linen and floral stands looked stunning.
The most striking aspect of the decor, however, was the handcrafted up-cycled furniture that highlighted the culture and heritage of India. The team adds, “At Amaahyaaj, we believe in showcasing the rich and diverse heritage and culture of India by incorporating various elements in our decor work that are handmade with exquisite precision. We also aim to promote local artisans and handcrafted items by showcasing their brilliant work in our projects. It is our way of giving back to society.”
Multicolored, hand-woven pieces of cane furniture such as chairs, tables, sofas and pouffes dotted the festivities, adding a touch of winsome charm to the proceedings.
