A grand wedding at the iconic Atlantis The Palm, Dubai that was a feast for all the senses

A familiar face in a foreign land is like finding home.
Family friends, Arti and Ajay had always known each other. But when in London to pursue their higher education, love bloomed. The two decided to get married at the globally celebrated Atlantis The Palm, Dubai.
The bride tells us all about their celebrations.
How They Met
“Ajay and I have always believed that everything that happens is predestined. Despite our family friendship, we really didn’t know each other well. As fate would have it, we ended up in London post-graduation and we really connected. Eventually, we fell in love and here we are a happily married couple. It’s been such a wonderful journey.”
Wedding Venue
“Like most girls, I wanted my wedding to be the most memorable day of my life. Once we decided to host our wedding in Dubai, the iconic Atlantis The Palm was the first hotel that came to mind. It offers the best of luxury and exudes the perfect ambiance for a grand Indian wedding. Their food and hospitality impressed us and the team ensured everything on the menu matched our tastes and that we were comfortable at all times.”
Wedding Planning
“My sister is a wedding designer, her company is called WED by Poornima. Needless to say, she knew exactly what I wanted and I had no worries about the planning, décor etc.
The Kashyap Sagar Photography team covered our wedding. We met them a couple of times and they intuited what we were looking for in our pictures. Kashyap is one of the best destination wedding photographers in Dubai and they captured all the right moments beautifully.
Dubai based makeup artist Asha runs a chain of salons called Aroushi and was in charge of dolling me up. I’d seen her work years ago and knew only she would do. She’s just great at her job and had me looking absolutely stunning!
Entertainment Design Company created our wedding cards. We were very clear we wanted to work with someone who was innovative and offered great quality. These guys lived up to our expectations.”
Wedding Functions
“The celebrations began even before we left for Dubai. We hosted an engagement ceremony in New Delhi and the event was an amuse-bouche of the madness to come. Once we landed in Dubai, the festivities commenced in earnest.
First, we had the mehendi ceremony with its undeniable ethnic vibe; bright drapes, kitschy umbrellas, lots of flowers. We even had a truck painted in vibrant designs as an eye-catching photo booth.
Next, the sangeet and cocktail party was hosted at the Rixos, The Palm Dubai, a beautiful outdoor venue by the ocean. The weather was perfect and the décor was stunning. The stage was decorated with birdcages and other interesting elements, suspended from the roof. We had all our guests ferried to the venue in limousines which they really enjoyed. Our families presented some incredible performances and the amazing team behind the bar made sure everyone was in high spirits.
Our pheras were conducted on the third day. The palette for the ceremony was red and white rendered in drapes around our mandap. After the wedding, we held a reception with an Arabic theme featuring local performances that had our guests enthralled.”
Advice for couples
“Every couple should enjoy every moment of their wedding festivities. It is so important to do this because you don’t get a do-over. Hire an excellent wedding planner and leave them to do their job. Once you have a good team everything will be fine.”
