A heady mix of cultures and love, this wedding designed by Aroosi was all things luxe and beautiful!

The new-age Indian couple are avid followers of global trends while admiring the traditions they’ve nourished at home. For Malvika Majithia Goradia and Anuj Goradia such was the case as they included WeddingSutra Favorite – Aroosi in their wedding squad to design their wedding. On the planning front, the couple chose WeddingSutra Favorite – 7X-Weddings who with their keen sense of orchestrating events ensured the duo and guests revelled freely.

Malvika and Anuj

Designed by Aroosi, high school sweethearts Malvika and Anuj’s wedding was a true reflection of their beliefs and personalities. For team Aroosi, this wedding in particular led them to push the envelope when it came to creativity and curate a tailor-made set of events which reflected the couple’s philosophies.

Manglik Prasang
First off on the list of events preceding the wedding was a Manglik Prasang – a religious ceremony which includes offering prayers to Lord Ganesha to bless the union. Ashima Arora from Aroosi shares, “Massive Aangans of village homes, with lawns till where the eyes can see, lush mango and lemon trees, birds chirping in through the trees and occasional visits from monkeys – we wanted the venue to exude an old-world charm. The botanist was our inspiration to create an organic courtyard. A massive tree in the center with a bench-like seating around it, like an excerpt from the Panchayats. Lemons, tangerines, birds, and monkeys hanging on the trees in the quintessential Indian home style. Their presence filled the air with not only their sweet sounds but also unbridled joy and chirp! Lounges of different styles were scattered around the venue covered with rattan and straw lamps, the furniture in wooden and cane, all the prints were botanical and Ajrak, and florals were tropical mixed with fruits loved by all our forest peers!”

Welcome Dinner
The next day, it was time to welcome the guests in style and for this, a captivating ‘Ying-Yang’ theme was embraced. Rasmeen Sawhney from Aroosi shares, “The couple, wholeheartedly embracing the Chinese philosophical concept, believed in the interconnectedness of opposing forces. Inspired by their faith, we meticulously crafted a decor that symbolized harmony in duality. Immersed in a world of black and white, the venue radiated elegance and depth. The tables, adorned with personalized place settings, invited each guest to their designated seat. As the guests arrived, they marvelled at the ethereal white florals accented with touches of green, emanating purity and vitality. The centerpiece of the room was a stage, its ceiling draped with enchanting gipsy flowers. The seating arrangement showcased special chairs, boldly labeled ‘Bride’ and ‘Groom’. Furthermore, on a few long tables, cascades of white roses descended, creating a mesmerizing illusion of being encompassed by a blossoming rose garden. The ambience was nothing short of enchanting, inviting guests into a world where opposing forces coexist harmoniously, just as the couple envisioned their journey together.”

Brunch
Ashima shares, “Drawing inspiration from the concept of ‘A Derby Club’, our team drew inspiration from traditional polo events but as the traditional polo events. These events usually have dark colours but as the couple loved pop colours and wanted everything bright – we incorporated bright, bold colours reminiscent of the polo uniforms and the equestrian club itself. We added elements such as polo mallets, helmets, and horseshoes into the design to create a cohesive equestrian theme. The couple’s eclectic approach left us with even more possibilities to experiment with. We took Ralph Lauren as our icon! Polo mallets hung on the walls, old saddles on wall-mounted racks dividing clothing sections. An all-encompassing style with a distinctive vision and a commitment to the highest level of craftsmanship was the aim that, we can proudly say, we achieved!”

Sangeet
Rasmeen shares, “Malvika and Anuj first crossed paths at a chemistry lab during school. And, their chemical reaction to each other became the soul of our Sangeet theme which was ‘effervescence’. We created a colour palette that reflected the colours of a chemical reaction – light blues, pinks, and purples. We then infused this with elements of a chemistry lab.
Our pièce de résistance was a magnificent circular installation suspended from the ceiling that looked like ripples from a chemical reaction. This was constructed, assembled and placed with a team of skilled artisans who meticulously and successfully suspended our showstopper from the ceiling. The ripples weren’t the only reaction happening there, a magnanimous stage with a backdrop created in layers and layers which look like fumes from chemicals burning. The centerpieces for the tables were crafted to look like bubbling test tubes, with flowers and bubbles carefully arranged to look like a chemical reaction taking place. We also used glass beakers filled with flowers and bubbles as accent pieces. The lighting was set up to create a romantic and intimate atmosphere, and the colour scheme was chosen to complement the decor.
The bar also reflected the theme as we incorporated smoke machines inside the bar which kept releasing smoke all the time. We also created a backdrop for the guests to take photos that were inspired by chemical equations, featuring the couple’s names and important dates in their relationship, chemical equations and a whole lot of fun details! We also created custom-made metal stands, to place numerous test tubes in them to act like statement centerpieces which added an industrial touch to the decor.”

Ganesh Puja
In the heartfelt remembrance of the bride’s beloved aunt, the Ganesh puja function held during the wedding day served as a touching tribute. The decor exuded an understated elegance, with subtle colours adorning the venue. It was a traditional affair, steeped in cultural rituals and customs. Ashima adds, “As the atmosphere filled with solemnity and reverence, the presence of 31 pandits added to the sanctity of the occasion. Each pandit meticulously performed the pujas, their chants and prayers echoing through the air, seeking blessings for the departed soul and the newlywed couple. It was a poignant amalgamation of celebration and remembrance, where love and respect intertwined in a beautiful symphony.”

Wedding
Admirers of traditional South Indian temple architecture, Malvika and Anuj were keen on bringing the taste of intricate temple architecture to their wedding mandap. Their brief was clear – they wanted to create a wedding that blended India’s cultural heritage with their contemporary value systems. Giving us an in-depth perspective into how they managed to bring this vision of the couple to life, Rasmeen and Ashima share, “Drawing on the wishes of our couple, we designed and created a wedding inspired by the ornate architecture of Hindu temples. To fulfill their wish, we created a South-Indian temple giving it a contemporary twist.
The Vellore Temple is a breathtaking example of the ancient Dravidian style of architecture and was also the source of our inspiration. The bride and groom exchanged vows inside the temple’s garbhagriha (the inner sanctum) with the families sitting in the adjacent structures. The ceremony happened under the serene and abundant floral canopy, surrounded by the delicate beauty of the rajnigandha blooms and the warm comforting light of the diyas. Guests were transported to a sacred, positive space where the beauty and significance of the wedding ceremony were truly celebrated.“

A wedding is a blank canvas where together as a couple, two individuals are presented with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to express themselves wholeheartedly. And, for couples who wish to make a statement while staying true to their personal style, Ashima and Rasmeen from Aroosi have a few nuggets of advice to share, “As you embark on this joyous journey together, we at Aroosi firmly believe in the power of individuality and personal expression. Your wedding day should be a reflection of who you are as a couple, a celebration that truly encapsulates your unique personality and love story. We encourage you to let your stories shine, allowing your wedding to become a captivating narrative that unfolds with every moment. Embrace the opportunity to celebrate the memories you’ve shared and create new ones that will last a lifetime. Don’t be swayed by fleeting trends. Instead, follow your hearts and choose what genuinely resonates with you. Explore unique themes, create memorable experiences, and above all, have fun.”
