A Pre-Wedding Photoshoot amidst the magical wild terrain of Kenya, Africa
Pre Wedding Photoshoots, Wedding Photography & Films - Mar 20, 2020
From the very moment Khushil laid his eyes on Nikita at a friend’s party, he just knew that he had found his soulmate. With fifteen wonderful years of creating precious memories involving love, growth and everything in between, they were now ready for the biggest adventure of their lives.
They decided to celebrate their journey with a magical pre-wedding photoshoot captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Once Upon a Time – Wedding Tales.
Detailed below, are some of the fun highlights of their experiences that they shared with us.
Khushil says, “We were hanging out with our friends when she caught my eye. One glance was all it took to know she was destined for me. Although I didn’t get the chance to converse with her much that night, I did get her number from a friend and then things kicked off from there. The past fifteen years have seen us growing together as individuals as well as a couple. We have experienced the good times and braved all challenges together unwaveringly. We also stood by each other through our decisions and choices in life and our respective career growths.”
Recalling the proposal dreamily, Nikita shares, “I thought he would pop the question in Iceland during our holiday in May 2018. We visited several picturesque places there, and at every beautiful location, I would brace myself in the heady anticipation of the ultimate proposal. But it never happened much to my chagrin, and by the end of the holiday, I was downright upset. A few months later he planned a surprise trip to Japan to celebrate both our birthdays, and kept the destination hidden from me till we got to Cappadocia. A couple of blissful days into our holiday, he asked me to dress up for a day out. Although that got me a tad bit suspicious, I went along with it. He had organized a photographer who pretended to be a ‘tour guide’ and we drove off to Sultan Cave Hotel. When the balloons were up and the moment was right, he asked me to marry him, and of course, I said an emphatic YES!! It was just so magical and simply surreal. He had chosen the most beautiful setting for the proposal. The latter half of the evening, he had arranged a surprise dinner overlooking the whole city where we celebrated the start to a new chapter of our lives.”
Giving us an insight into the pre-wedding shoot planning process, they shared, “We wanted it to be exciting, magical and in a location that had an abundance of natural beauty. Kenya offers a wide range of beautiful and serene locations as well as a ringside view to it’s wild and natural fauna. We fell in love with Crescent Island at first sight. The beautiful landscapes and a backdrop of the Lake Naivasha along with animals roaming freely were simply breathtaking to witness. It was the ideal location to help capture our true essence as a couple.”
Unfortunately, unexpected heavy rains posed a major challenge to the shoot. “We wanted to shoot before the break of dawn, but due to the weather conditions it was arduous. The roads leading to the selected location were also treacherous and challenging. However, all these minor hiccups added to the fun and excitement of the shoot and made it all the more memorable. Ultimately, we had faced all possible weather conditions that day right from rain and clouds to sunshine and winds, which posed as stunning backdrops to our clicks”, says Khushil.
Recounting the most special memory of the shoot, Nikita says, “We can never forget running alongside the giraffes to get the perfect shot. To experience the novelty of such close proximity to this majestic animal was so surreal. Clearly, this was one unforgettable experience that we will hold close to our hearts forever.”
Narrating their experience of shooting with ‘Once Upon a Time – Wedding Tales’, Khushil shares, “Prateek and his team of photographers were a dream to work with. They were thoroughly supportive throughout the entire pre-wedding shoot process. We felt an immediate bond with their team which helped allay all our anxieties and pre-jitters of the shoot, thus making the entire experience a fun and easy process.”
The charming couple tied the knot in Nairobi, Kenya in December 2019.
Khushil says, “The planning process took a whole year of hard work and dedication, especially from Nikita, leaving no stone unturned. We started off the festivities with Lagnotri and a Welcome party (The Adventure begins) on the first day, followed by the Mandvo and Pre-Wedding dinner on 10th December. The wedding was on 12th December at the Fuschia Gardens against a stunning backdrop of tea plantations in a valley. We ended the week with a black-tie party (Our Enchanted Forest).”
An experience to cherish forever.
