A surprise romantic proposal on a luxurious yacht perched on the gentle waves of the Arabian Sea
Wedding Proposals - Nov 10, 2020
From the moment Disha and Jigar first crossed paths they felt a tingle of familiarity pass between them. The duo started dating at the age of sixteen and have been through their fair share of ups and downs but yet managed to keep their love aflame. So when the time came to pop the question to his bride-to-be, Jigar ensured that no stone was left unturned in making her dream come true. Photographed by WeddingSutra Favorite – WhatKnot who used their expertise behind the lens to capture stunning stills, the dreamy proposal ticked all the right boxes.
How they met
Describing their first meeting, Disha recalls, “From the first time I saw him, he just felt so familiar and it didn’t take long for me to fall in love. Over time we got to know each other well as great friends while we goofed around in college, and he always had this strong sense of familiarity around him. At that time we were 16 and so much in love but still, I insisted that he propose to me properly if he wanted me to be his girlfriend. And he did right on the street in front of everyone! It was the cutest thing ever.”
Proposal
Sharing the planning that went behind the dreamy proposal, Jigar shares, “After all these years together, it was quite obvious the next step would be marriage. Both of us decided to speak to our parents who happily agreed on the union and we had our roka ceremony. But I was aware that Disha had always dreamt of a proposal and I wanted her dream to come true.
So this time, I decided to surprise her with a well-planned proposal that would blow her mind. My planning began well in advance and I zeroed in on our 10th anniversary to pop the question. I remembered how she’d loved our evening at a floating restaurant once before and hence, decided to book a yacht for the momentous day. Soon, I got in touch with team Whatknot who were extremely agreeable as they understood my vision immediately, and were quick to reach the spot.
Once Disha and I reached the spot, the photography team started clicking while I hoodwinked her by saying that this was a pre-wedding shoot. As she got comfortable, I popped out the ring and said, ‘This is what I did 10 years ago for a relationship and now I am asking you for marriage, will you marry me?’ And I saw that she had the biggest smile on her face as she exclaimed a ‘yes!’. It was one of the most memorable moments of my life and after hugging each other we popped a bottle of champagne and cut a cake. I still don’t know how I managed to plan it, but I did and Disha was very happy so that’s all that matters!”
