A vibrant home-based wedding that balanced quiet grandeur with a sense of warmth and familiarity
Wedding Planning - Mar 6, 2026
Vaibhavi Prabhudesai and Dhananjay Salgaocar’s wedding was planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Crafting Memories with a clear, restrained vision: to host the celebration at the couple’s home while allowing it to evolve into a complete wedding venue without losing its familiarity. From the start, the planners approached the project with sensitivity, keeping the house and its emotional value at the centre of every decision.

Mark Rodrigues from Crafting Memories shares, “The home already had a story. Our role was to respect that story and enhance it just enough for a wedding of this scale.” The planning focused on reworking the property to feel cohesive and intuitive. Entry pathways, gardens, and ceremony areas were designed to connect naturally, enabling guests to move through the space with ease. Heritage-inspired architectural elements, handcrafted accents, and traditional details were introduced sparingly, ensuring the décor felt rooted rather than imposed. “We were careful not to make the house feel unfamiliar,” explains Mark. “Everything had to belong to the space, not compete with it.”

Traditional Indian aesthetics informed the décor language, anchored by a refined floral palette of marigolds, roses, tuberoses, and seasonal blooms. Florals were layered across the property through rangoli-inspired ground designs and subtle overhead installations. The garden spaces felt celebratory yet composed, while the interiors were softened with warm lighting and chandeliers that brought out the home’s natural elegance. “Indoors, we wanted the lighting and details to feel intimate and welcoming,” notes Mark. “These were spaces meant for family moments as much as for celebration.”

The mandap stood out for its thoughtful integration with the house. Custom-designed to echo the home’s architectural proportions, finishes, and colour palette, it felt permanent rather than temporary. This was intentional. “The idea was for the mandap to read as an extension of the house,” says Mark Rodrigues. “If it looked like it had always been there, we knew we had succeeded.” And, the seamless execution led many guests to assume the structure was a permanent part of the property!
