Aashna and Pallav’s Platinum Day of Love
Love Actually, Pre Wedding Photoshoots, Precious Platinum - Sep 19, 2017
Our Love Actually series captures beautiful moments between couples in the most stunning locations across Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.
We met Aashna and Pallav at the serene The Taj West End, Bengaluru. The Glossnglass team ensured Aashna was radiant right through the shoot. Abaran, Bengaluru brought sparkle to the day with their beautiful platinum jewellery and North Water Star captured the candid moments in frames that the two will cherish forever.
Here, the bride tells us all about a love story that will take you back in time to your own favorite high school romances.
“Pallav and I met through friends studying in the same university in Singapore,” says Aashna. One Saturday night in Bengaluru, a casual plan turned into something fate played a part of. “My friend was in town from Singapore so we decided to meet for a girls’ night out. Pallav also had a friend in town from there and decided to have a boys’ night out. At some point of time, the two people from Singapore decided they wanted to hang together, so the groups joined up,” she says.
It was by no means love at first sight though. “We were introduced at the party but there were no feelings involved. The next day both of us had forgotten about the other and we went about our lives as usual,” Aasha smiles. However, Pallav added her on Facebook a few days later and tried making a connection, “But our conversations didn’t flow spontaneously since we were apprehensive about opening up to someone new. In fact, I think both of us were also a little egotistical,” remembers Aashna.
But by now, their common friends were really keen to set them up. “A month later, our friends decided to trick us. A friend of Pallav’s told him that I find him cute while my friend told me the same about him and we foolishly fell for it,” she giggles. And that’s when sparks flew, “The next time he messaged me I was nice to him because I thought that he liked me,” says a laughing Aashna. A few messages exchanged and Pallav decided to take the step out of the virtual world into the real.
They took the old school route to finding love and spent a lot to of time getting to know each other. Several meetings later he knew that what they had was more than friendship and what he did next blew Aashna away. “He showed up at my doorstep in this car with a huge bouquet of roses and lilies which are my and his favorite flowers respectively. We drove all the way to Tamil Nadu to this beautiful lake where we had a picnic. At sunset, he asked me to be his girlfriend. It was all so beautiful and I was overjoyed. I said yes in an instant!” Aashna remembers.
Only eight months into their relationship though, it was time to come to terms with a changed reality. “He started applying to colleges in London for his post graduation and I started to get a bad feeling about us. We were so used to being around each other all the time, I knew that long distance would be the end of us,” Aashna says. Still, Aashna supported his decision despite her misgivings. One day, walking through an educational fair, both of them couldn’t stop thinking of what would happen to their relationship. As they walked out, Pallav did the most spontaneous thing ever, “We stepped out, and the next thing I knew was that he was on one knee asking me to marry him. He said didn’t care about his post-graduation at the cost of drifting away from me. I had never imagined that he would do this! I said yes immediately.” Aashna says. She elaborates on the bond that she shares with Pallav “The kind of rapport that I share with him is unlike any other. The trust and understanding in our relationship is what makes it so special.”
With a wedding scheduled for December, the duo is busy planning the details. Aashna gushes about WeddingSutra, “We have been visiting the website regularly to keep up with the current trends in fashion and decor. The stories on the portal have been so helpful in providing us with inspiration and ideas. We always knew that we would get married at the Taj West End, Bangalore, but there are also so many other things that need to be taken care of.”
The couple loves the sprawling 20 acre property where they will celebrate their union, “Taj West End is in the center of the city but once you’re inside the hotel, it feels like you have been transported to a different destination. There is also so much history here… For example, the second oldest tree in Bangalore can be found on the hotel’s premises. We love the hotel for these things.”
Speaking of things that last, Aashna then plays with her platinum wedding band, “I totally understand all the hoo-hah around platinum wedding bands. I’m very into coordinating our outfits while keeping it understated and wearing the same rings or bracelets give you a sense of belonging. Moreover, these designs in platinum are so much better than traditional jewelry. They can be worn every day and go with just about anything.” Ashna talks further about the significance a platinum band has to a strong relationship “One of the most expensive metals, platinum is identified for its purity and strength, qualities that any couple would want their bond to be representative of. For us, these bands are a reminder of what our relationship stands for.”
