Ace makeup artist Shivani Sheth takes Bride-to-be Kritika Beauty Shopping with Lakme
Bridal Fashion and Beauty - Aug 27, 2014
Bride-to-be Kritika Jain had a fairly clear idea what works for her skin but she was really interested in knowing what makeup would work best for her. So WeddingSutra and Lakmé decided to get expert makeup artist Shivani Sheth to take her shopping and ease her into the world of beauty products.
Kritika’s Top Skin Concerns
Kritika has flawless, unblemished skin, except for slight dark circles around her eyes, so Shivani suggests applying almond oil every night before she goes to sleep. Another way to improve it is to apply a raw potato pack on the face. This gives a natural glow and also addresses Kritika’s other concern– tanning. Shivani recommends that she keep her skin hydrated, and eats a lot of fruit to nourish her skin.
Shivani’s Top Makeup Picks for Kritika
Shivani demonstrates two looks for Shivani for social occasions or for an evening out.
Shivani chooses a palette of burnt orange and corals to complement Kritika’s warm skin tone and dusky complexion for the makeover. She begins with the Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Foundation to create a smooth base, and then applies the Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Compact to set the foundation. She brushes on the Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Blush Duos in Coral Blush to enhance her cheeks and a touch of Lakmé Absolute Sun-kissed Bronzer to highlight them. To add glitz to Kritika’s eyes, she uses the Lakmé Absolute Drama Stylist Shadow Crayon in ivory and follows up with the Lakmé Absolute Kohl Ultimate on the upper lash line and the lower water line of her eyes, and coats of the Lakmé Absolute Flutter Secrets Mascara. For her lips, Shivani chooses from the Lakmé Absolute Gloss Stylist range – the Coral Lustre lip color and adds a touch of the Coral Sunset gloss to the center of her lips for a juicier pout.
“Kritika has beautiful features and a good face for makeup. I just told her to fill in her eyebrows with a pencil,” says Shivani. “She just has to carry a lip color in coral or peach, a matching blush on, a nice ivory tone eye shadow and mascara in her makeup kit, and she’s set.”
Inside Shivani’s Beauty Bag
Shivani loves the Lakmé Absolute Kohl Ultimate pencil as it glides beautifully across the eyelids, and the Lakmé Absolute Flutter Secrets mascara, which is ideal to create a fuller look as it adds triple the volume to the eyelashes as compared to some of the other brands of mascara. The Lakmé Absolute Gloss Stylist lip glosses are really intense and smooth.
Kritika’s Beauty Shopping Experience
“I felt very special at the Lakmé Absolute Salon- and it was a nice place to move out of my comfort zone and see the entire Lakmé Absolute range. Typically I’ve used kajal only, so I had very little idea on what kind of makeup would suit me, or even how to use it. But, Shivani patiently explained the basic steps to make-up and colors application.
I was wearing kajal when I went for the session. So Shivani first wiped it out with a makeup remover and it came off in seconds. I’m definitely buying it; the Lakmé Absolute Bi-Phased Makeup Remover.
Shivani began with the basic three-step process of cleaning, toning and moisturizing before applying makeup. To clean, wash the face with warm water and a face wash. Splash ice cold water on the face for toning, and moisturise the face to close and pack all the pores.
She then talked about foundation, and taught me how to choose the right shade for my skin. She said I should check on what shade is best for me, by applying a little product below the jaw, and not on the face, as there is always a slight color difference between the face and the neck.
She gave me a day look which I could intensify for the night, by adding on extra kajal and eyeliner and smoking it out, and brush on some more blush and lip color.”
What I Learnt about my Beauty Regimen
“I plan to purchase the foundation, eye makeup and lip colours that Shivani used on me, so I can recreate the looks she demonstrated. It’s been one week since our consultation session, and I have been following her suggestions of the almond oil application and the 20-minute mashed potato face pack, and the good results are already showing. I am very happy I took time out for this session with Shivani at the Lakmé Absolute Salon. Thanks to WeddingSutra for this opportunity. I now feel inspired to use makeup and I am confident that I can carry the looks which I learnt from Shivani.”
