Ambika and Aakash’s Platinum Day of Love

Our initiative ‘Love Actually’ features engaged couples and captures beautiful moments between them. The series celebrates people in love as they start their lives together. Over a fabulous makeover and a photo shoot, these couples share how they met as we document the rare connection they have and talk about their day of love.
As they say, “Rab ne bana di Jodi”(matches are made in heaven), well.. not always! For Delhi-based Ambika and Mumbai-based Aakash, it was their friends who arranged their rendezvous. They were both dreading the pressure and awkwardness of a blind date. Instead, they were taken aback by their instant chemistry and unanticipated interesting conversation. Before they knew it, hours had gone by, and by the end of the night Ambika was smitten. Says Ambika, “The connection we felt was instant and absolute. We shared stories for hours! Aakash is an incredible storyteller, and the enthusiasm with which he shared his life experiences was so infectious, it made me want to live through them with him once more! His incredible zest for life won me over”.
After a few lovely meetings, they encountered their first twist in an otherwise perfect fairytale when Ambika went back to Delhi. Ambika had already started developing deep feelings for Aakash while he was taking his time admitting his own. Keeping in touch got tougher and and communication began to lag. Things changed however once Ambika relocated her job to Mumbai. They started conversing with renewed vigour, and there was no looking back!
Marketing professional Ambika hails from a service background, while Akaash is an entrepreneur by profession and comes from a business family. However, despite different lifestyles, they bonded over common life goals and a shared set of family values. Says Ambika, “Regardless of differences in interests and aspirations in life, we both wanted a grounded life closely knit around our family and loved ones.”
A few months in, Ambika knew she has found her soulmate, and didn’t want to wait a moment longer. In a refreshing turn of events, the boss lady that she is, Ambika planned the perfect proposal at the gorgeous Estella, by the ocean at Juhu. She laughs, “I am a Bollywood buff and wanted to create a unique proposal around a fun game. I made notes with cheesy one-liners from famous movies and gave them to Aakash throughout our dinner, and he had to guess which movie it was from. This went on till the final proposal note quoted the famous dialogue from Ye Jawani Hai Deewani, ‘Shaadi is dal-chawal for pachaas saal till you die, bolo hai manzoor?’ What else could Aakash say, other than Yes! Yes! A 1000 times Yes”.
Alignment of an underlying set of core values is instrumental to any relationship. “Even though we come from different backgrounds, we share the same vision for our lives ahead. And while we both believe in simple living, we share a certain spontaneity which I feel is unique to us as a couple. Like for most people, going jogging together or cooking together might be couple goals, our idea of romance is staying up all night brainstorming on a new business idea! I am analytical as a person while Aakash is very enterprising, and I love that we bring different things to the table. Our opposing qualities balance out perfectly.” says Ambika.
Aakash shares, “What attracted me to Ambika was the complexity and range of our conversations and how easily they can transition from an intimate tête-à-tête to a hardcore full blown discussion of finance and business. While we are polar opposites in terms of work and exposure, we love learning from each other’s experiences and ideas. I love her simple and grounded approach to life. With a perfect mix of childlike innocence and a high level of maturity, she is truly a rare gem.”
Finding someone who completes you in every way, and brings out the best possible version of yourself is truly rare. From love to friendship, fun to work, Ambika and Aakash found a partner in each other for everything. And as the happy couple excitedly await their Summer wedding in March 2020, their search for their search for rings to perfectly commemorate finding their soulmate brought them to Platinum love bands. Crafted from the rarest metal on earth, these timeless masterpieces are the perfect and only embodiment of the rare bond they share as a couple.
Ambika and Aakash celebrated their platinum day of love at the sassy chic Rassasy by Barcelos. Exquisite jewellery from Platinum Guild added a layer of splendour to the occasions, while Divya Sonar gave Ambika a glowing visage and romantic soft tresses that perfectly complemented her demure jumpsuit. Aakash looked suave in midnight blue. Nishith Dayal from CCP Weddings immortalised their love in gorgeous frames for the two to cherish forever.
