An enchanting engagement in God’s Own Country that saw two days of non-stop celebrations!
Wedding Planning - Oct 16, 2019
The first thrills of teenage love! Those stolen glances, hushed whispers, moments with your highschool sweetheart. Some of these love stories evolve into romantic proposals that tug at your heartstrings. Just like Madhu and Joe’s grand engagement that had jaw-dropping ensembles! Followed with the promise of a wedding to come…
This Kochi love story has it all.
When you’ve been in love for so long, it makes sense to celebrate your engagement over two days. Planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Shaadi Squad and captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Wedding Salad, this engagement was grand and lovely.
For a love story that began in highschool, it made sense for school buddies, grown adults now, to participate in taking the tale to the next level. Joe planned a wedding proposal in the same place he first met Madhu. But that wasn’t all. He planned a treasure hunt with 9 clues, each for every year he’d known and loved her.
Madhu says, “His proposal is a story I can’t wait to tell our children! You only read about these things in books or see them in films. He put so much thought into this, it makes me tear up. This surprise, a well planned treasure hunt, came out of nowhere and I was a ball of mixed emotions going from one place to another, at each juncture, a close friend with an envelope with the next clue. In the end, there were tears, a beautiful ring and the boy of my dreams.”
After she said yes, the couple wanted to share their joy with all their loved ones. It started with the perfect venue. The bride says, “We wanted the perfect romantic setting for the occasion. The Grand Hyatt Bolgatty, Kochi ticked all the right boxes. The vast banquet spaces, eclectic cocktail venues and the rooftop bar were all vibrant and great for the functions we had planned. We also have lots of extended family in Kerala so that was convenient.”
The planning of the two functions were entrusted to the able Shaadi Squad, while the décor was handled by The Wedding Design Company. The first function was the “Cocktail Evening.” The décor evoked a Moulin Rouge vibe with sensuous color and lighting and a dramatic use of feathers. The bride-to-be looked like a bronze goddess in a sequined gold saree by Sabyasachi and jewels by Studio Tara while the dapper groom looked sharp in a Tom Ford tuxedo.
The next day began with an exchange of rings in church. This was followed by lunch. The décor was a profusion of enchanting pastel hues, flowing drapes, cherry blossom trees and a heavenly arrangement of flowers. The bride looked like something out of a fairytale in her soft green and blush outfit by Anamika Khanna with gems by Sabyasachi. Her groom wore Sabysachi in hues matching his fiancée’s clothes. The beautiful festivities were captured by the talented team of The Wedding Salad.
About their experience with the Shaadi Squad and The Wedding Salad, the couple says, “Shaadi Squad is the epitome of positive energy! I don’t think there are enough words to do justice to their incredible service. Everybody always says the bride and groom have the least fun at their own functions. Tina’s team surely proved them wrong. We had the most stress free and fun weekend with our family and friends. From excellent execution to secret shots for the bride, Shaadi Squad has you covered. Their skills and professionalism were matched only by their fun personality to be around on our special day.
My fiancé and I were initially very worried about our photos and how they would turn out. Ask anyone- we are both not the most comfortable people in front of a camera. This was true until we met the team from The Wedding Salad. They made us feel incredibly comfortable and patiently walked us through postures and poses. They managed to capture the perfect amount of staged and candid photos with such a friendly and approachable attitude, and the lengths they go to, to get the perfect shot is rare to find. Nothing beats a room full of amazingly talented women to work with!”
