An ode to their childhood memories and family, this couple’s destination wedding decor will pull at your heartstrings!

Elegant, nostalgic and hosted on the breezy shores of Chennai, this destination wedding inspired awe and brought forth a gush of emotions with its thoughtful decor crafted by WeddingSutra Favorite – PetalsNDrapes. Using colors in tandem with the surroundings and elements that resonated with the couple, this wedding stole hearts with its aesthetic beauty and the sheer warmth it exuded!
SowmyaLakshmi Rajaji from PetalsNDrapes shares the brief she received from the duo, “The couple hail from Mumbai and have lived in the USA after their graduation. They were keen on different themes for every event. While they mostly preferred minimalism, they were also keen on adding a dash of vibrancy to the celebration for a desi kick. Quirky elements like an ice cream truck (a vital memory from their time in India) and a canvas on which the guests could leave palm prints further added a touch of nostalgia with a personal touch.
Punctuated by sunlit skies and a stunning view of the ocean, the decor created a vibrant splash at the venue. First in line was the Haldi event where tradition and customisation went hand in hand. Giving us an overview of the event decor SowmyaLakshmi shares, “The Haldi was a profusion of orange and yellow hues that stood out beautifully in the sun. However, we didn’t want this to be an average ‘run-of-the-mill’ Haldi. For exclusivity, we used fabric and embroidery hoops as decor elements. This was an ode to the groom’s family who owns a fabric business and they were thrilled with the outcome!” Dotted with thick marigold garlands, earthy teepee seating arrangements, colorful embroidery hoops and cane baskets brimming with flowers, the decor was out of the box, dreamy and traditional all the same!
After the lively Haldi, the couple’s vision of an elegant Beach Wedding was brought to life with the sea waves as the perfect backdrop, all thanks to the PetalsNDrapes team. SowmyaLakshmi tells us how she amplified the couple’s vision, “Their brief was quite clear – they wanted an elegant wedding by the beach! With this in mind, we went for mild tones to complement their outfits. After the Wedding, the guests enjoyed a sit-down dinner during which they enjoyed a beautiful view of the sunset. For the dinner, we followed the rustic theme requested by the couple and dotted the space with wooden tables and chairs.” Adorned with pink suspended blooms, green foliage and soft off-white drapes that billowed in the wind, the mandap stood out against the clear blue sky. Dainty chairs decorated with peach drapes added to the overall look that had all the guests thoroughly smitten!
