Beautiful Sunset Beach Wedding in Goa With a Touch of Simplicity
Destination Weddings, Wedding Planning - Sep 24, 2019
From teen romances to tying the knot in Goa, Amrita and Abhijit’s intimate beach wedding was as sweet as their story. The simple but spectacular two day affair with just their loved ones was planned beautifully by WeddingSutra Favorite – Pataka Events and it reflected their personalities and a shared love of nature and the great outdoors.
How they met
“We were best friends in school and have been dating since we were 16. Abhijit (or ‘Juice’ as his friends call him) saw me perform in a school competition and was smitten,” the bride says, laughing. Abhijit found it easy to break the ice with Amrita during their playtime, as she played football with the boys every evening. Once they got to know each other, he won her over.
The Proposal
“We had really been dating forever so that hashtag #AboutTimeAmuJuice was pretty apt,” the bride quips, “We already knew we were going to spend our lives together, so there wasn’t any formal proposal, but when we FINALLY tied the knot, our friends heaved a sigh of relief.”
Wedding Venue
“We wanted a small, relaxed destination wedding with just friends and family in tow. There’s nothing better than Goa. A merry atmosphere, gorgeous beaches, and we’ve been making annual trips there since 12th grade so we felt it would be a fitting tribute to the personal connection we have to a place where we made so many memories. We picked the Holiday Inn for its hospitality and service, beachfront and their gorgeous ballroom.”
Wedding Planning
After meeting several planners, the couple bonded with Ayesha and Joshua of Pataka Events over a mutual love of the outdoors and an intuition about the décor they wanted that was within their budget. They were clear that on their wedding day they wanted raw emotion and real interaction to be saved for posterity and so they entrusted Sudheer from Wedding Snipers with the wedding photography. Chikpet designed their invitations.
As for her makeup artist, the bride didn’t have one. She says, “I have always been a tomboy, and I have super sensitive skin so I’ve never felt comfortable wearing makeup. Instead I focused on my skincare, and chose to go ‘au naturelle’, with just mascara and lipstick.”
Wedding Functions
Mehendi
With only family in attendance, the event was an intimate event, held on the lawn at sunset where everyone played fun games and bright, happy music played.
Wedding
“We didn’t want a long drawn out wedding with tonnes of customs, rituals and chanting hymns that we did not understand. We wanted to actually know the vows we were making, commit to loving each other and being with each other forever. So we chose an Arya Samaj wedding on the beach at sunset. My sister, my friend and I made corsages and boutonnieres for all the women and men to wear for the occasion.”
Sangeet
After a string of outdoor functions, the couple hosted a sangeet in the ballroom. An action packed event with energetic dance performance and fun games, the couple also performed a dance they had choreographed for the evening.
Advice for couples
“However memorable your wedding day may be, what matters is your marriage. Remember this when your wedding planning stress runs high, and try to focus on the bigger picture.”
