Classy Retro & Floral Wedding Decor by Devika Sakhuja Wows All at Celeb Stylist's Celebration
Destination Weddings, Wedding Planning - May 21, 2019
The pheras, exchange of vows and beautiful rituals may comprise the essence of every wedding, but what guests also look forward to is the decor – and clicking hundreds of photos in the beautiful surroundings with their smartphones. Wedding decor helps define the themes and vibes that couples want on their big day. With the range of options around, it can get a little mind boggling to zero in on the right choices. Celebrity stylist Sanjana Batra, hosted her celebrations between her own home and Amaara Farms and having WeddingSutra Favorite Devika Sakhuja by her side not only made everything so much easier but also utterly elegant.
Sharing details about the planning process Devika said, “Our first meeting with Sanjana was fixed only about a month before her wedding date where we got our initial understanding of the kind of theme and mood she was looking for. This was followed by a few more discussions that we had in-person to understand her vision in detail, discuss ideas and identify the key aspects of the celebrations. We wanted to bring her dreams to life so that her big day would feel more special to her.”
Within the short timeline, the team planned two functions with distinctive personalities. The festivities kicked off with a cocktail function that exuded a classic old-school vibe with warm colors, lots of wooden elements and tufted sofas. This function took place at Amaara Farms where sprawling lawns and lush environs offered the perfect backdrop for the theme. “While talking with Sanjana, her inclination towards a vintage ambiance became apparent to us. So to give the theme a unique spin, we thought of creating a very English, cigar lounge vibe for the cocktail party. Working along the lines of this idea, we curated a wooden deck with leather quilted furniture. Pressing rewind a little more, we incorporated a screen with a black and white film being projected on it and had elements like bookshelves, walls with lithographs, trunks and Edison bulbs to enhance the look. All of this set a beautiful stage for the soiree but the highlight of the night was the ‘candle bed’. For this we laid out thousands of candles in one section of the lawn and the serene venue furthered the beauty of this scintillating setup!”
The canvas of deep hue and golden lights made way for a pastel wedding the following morning. The ceremony took place at the stylist’s home in New Delhi and extended an undeniable sense of warmth, comfort, and nostalgia. Throwing light on the design of the house and the way it drove the decorations, Devika said, “Sanjana was very clear that she wanted to wed in the lawn within the premises of her home. Her house has been inspired by Scottish and English courtyard architecture so we decide on designed decor that would work in unity with the beauty of their abode. We conceptualized a cozy, intimate, floral wedding with hues of pink and lavender.” The beautiful ceremony comprised of a profusion of delicate flowers in soft colours and that packed magic in all its details.
