Decorated in hues of green and white, this couple’s emerald themed wedding reception emanated traditional glam!
Wedding Planning - Feb 16, 2021
Misbaah Mansuri and Aadil Contractor’s love has survived every obstacle, from a challenging distance of a thousand miles to a worldwide pandemic. But empowered by their faith in each other, the duo let nothing come in between them as they remotely planned their wedding amidst the lockdown. Brimming with joy and heartfelt moments, this elegant, intimate wedding was a perfect example of the duo’s unwavering love that flourishes despite the many hurdles that may come in its way.
How They Met
The couple first crossed paths as teenagers at a coaching class where their love found its roots. Misbaah shares, “For four years we pulled off a long-distance relationship after Aadil got a job in Bangkok and then he moved to Dubai. Moreover, owing to the pandemic we couldn’t meet each other for almost a year after he’d moved. But as fate would have it, we powered through and when Aadil popped the question virtually in May, I was swept off my feet! Planning a wedding did seem impossible owing to the lockdown but Aadil did fly down to India in December and within a month, we planned the perfect wedding!”
Wedding Planning
With less than a month to make their dream wedding come true, it’s safe to say that Misbaah and Aadil had their hands full. And to make sure their vision came to life, they relied on seasoned vendors whom they could trust completely. Misbaah shares, “We had less than a month to plan the wedding and had to fly back to Dubai just a few days after the affair, so we wanted to choose a venue that will work best for an intimate affair of over 60-70 people. Keeping the pandemic in mind, we designed personalized masks for the wedding guests with our initials which accompanied the wedding invite. Since the wedding was in December when night-curfew and restrictions due to COVID -19 were still there, both of us were worried about how we would manage. But, thankfully, all our vendors were amazing and I was reassured that I could plan a wedding remotely.”
On the decor and planning front, they roped in Ruhee Contractor and adding to the team were caterers Salt Mumbai, photographer, and videographer TanviTaufu Wedding Tales, Mehendi artist Veena Nagda along with makeup artists Afreen-Makeup & Hair, Makeoverbysania and Farida Mistry.
Weddings Functions
Bachelorette
To kick off the festivities Misbaah and her bridal squad hosted a bachelorette party at a luxurious spa where they indulged themselves completely. Comforted by the manicure and pedicure sessions, the girls pampered themselves and enjoyed a relaxing day. Glowing in a soft pink layered dress she sported a casual curly hairstyle. For her makeup, her trusted makeup artist Afreen Petiwala from Afreen-Makeup & Hair chose to give her a fresh look with dewy skin and glossy lips. Afreen shares, “I gave Misbaah a very understated and soft look that accentuated her natural beauty. We also chose a soft brown smoky eye look that could easily transition from day to night.”
Haldi and Mehendi
Hosted at the groom’s residence the Haldi and Mehendi were intimate functions that were adorned with minimalistic decor. Bedecked with delicate blooms in vivid hues, these ceremonies were packed with playful moments as the bride and groom reveled with their loved ones. And to make sure the bride had the perfect Mehendi on her hands, Bollywood Mehendi artist Veena Nagda used her skills to the fullest.
Reception
Following an elegant emerald theme, the couple’s reception struck the perfect balance between minimalism and glitz. Seated on a stage accentuated by a backdrop crafted out of delicate white roses and intricate gold arches, the happy couple radiated joy as they accepted blessings from their loved ones. Dressed in an aqua green and pink lehenga with gold embroidery, Misbaah was clearly the showstopper of the evening while Aadil complemented her in a sage green zari embroidered sherwani.
Sharing the work that went behind creating the bride’s stunning lehenga, Toral Chopra, owner, TC Urban Couture says, “Since we are based in the USA, it took a healthy amount of effort to work remotely but thankfully, we were able to smoothly pull off the outfit just in time for the big day! Keeping Misbaah’s directives in mind, we designed a custom-made lehenga and our trusted army of kaarigars used their skills to create stunningly intricate embroidery.”
Describing the bride’s hair look, Rahul, Senior Hair Expert, Locks, and Lustre salon shares, “I opted for a half braid with a center parting for Misbaah so that it could enhance the shape of her face. Additionally, I also ensured that her maang tikka sat firmly on her head with no space to keep moving. She has naturally straight hair and I wanted to give her a different look, especially because she loves curls! Therefore we decided to create defined curls and spritzed on some hairspray so that they lasted through the entire evening.”
Advice for couples
“We realized that planning a wedding with a close-knit family and only those who matter is more fun. It allowed us to actually enjoy the whole affair and we learned ‘more the merrier’ doesn’t really apply to wedding festivities. Together we planned it with those who mattered and it honestly, couldn’t get any better!”, shares an exuberant Aadil.
