Ditya and Smit’s high-altitude pre-wedding shoot in scenic Leh-Ladakh

Captured by Photo Tantra, Ditya and Smit chose the breathtaking panoramas of Leh-Ladakh as backdrop to their pre-wedding shoot. They tell us about it here.
About us and How we Met
We’re both 26, doctors and live in Tampa, Florida, where we’re pursuing our further education.
I’m from Nairobi, Kenya and came to Ahmedabad to do an M.B.B.S. Smit is from Ahmedabad. We met in college, a typical story. I’m talkative, gregarious, love going out and making friends. Smit is quiet, loves his own space. Despite being in the same class, we were only introduced in our second year but it was the start of a great friendship.
After a year of chatting casually, Smit called on my birthday and asked if we could go watch a movie. It was his way of saying, “I like you, can we go out?” A few days later, he officially asked if we could ‘date’. We were just 20 years old and for us, that was it.
We knew from the first day that this was forever, so it was never a ‘go down on one knee’ sort of thing. About six months into the relationship, we both told our respective parents about each other. We just kind of went with the flow and here we are!
It’s been six and half years and he is still my best friend first, and everything else after.
About the Pre-wedding shoot:
Smit and I love travelling. We’ve been to Australia, Hong Kong, Macau, Dubai, Orlando… I’ve always wanted to see more of India and I’ve dreamed of going to Leh. So when it came to choosing a destination for the shoot, Leh was one of our first choices.
We got to know and bond with our photographers on the way and it turned into such a fun trip. The shoot just happened with great ease because we were so comfortable with the whole Photo Tantra team.
In addition to the fact that Vinayak Das and his team are excellent at their work, they were fun to know and shoot with. We had a great time and made so many memories and to top it all, got some great shots. We’d just decide on a location, stop at random in beautiful places to shoot… One of my favourite pictures happened when we stopped at tea stall on the way to Pangong Lake at Changla Pass. We also shot at Leh Palace, Thicksey Monastery, Hemis Gompa, Pangong Lake. Our random quad bike back was just super thrilling too!
