Exuding luxury and elegance, this couple’s Iranian wedding was an extravagant celebration of love punctuated by Indian elements

UAE-based lawyers Nona Keyhani and Farzin Khoshdel left no stone unturned as they tied the knot amidst stunning celebrations at Raffles The Palm Dubai. Striking the right balance between fairytale-like elegance and modern glam, their festivities were planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Vivaah Celebrations who dived deep into the duo and their family’s preferences to orchestrate an awe-inspiring wedding.

Rahul Kumar of Vivaah Celebrations tells us how it all began and how the team started planning the wedding, “Nona and Farzin reached out to us ten months prior to the wedding and in their brief, they conveyed that wanted a contemporary wedding setup which also paid homage to their Iranian roots and heritage. Their love for their culture led us to invest a lot more time than usual to understand what is expected at Iranian weddings while staying true to the couple’s modern aesthetics. We designed a detailed ‘Timeline Sheet’ with a date mentioned against each celebration so we could have a systematic and structural approach to the entire wedding planning. Through frequent meetings with the couple and their immediate family members, we understood the expectations and tastes of each stakeholder. Subtlety and balance were key, as we had to cater to many tastes and individuals from different generations. Weekly progress reports and analytical reviews were shared to ensure everyone was in sync. These tools were designed in-house at Vivaah Celebrations, which in turn, makes everything immensely efficient while planning a wedding.”

By conceptualising innovative themes and pairing them with artists, unique performers, immersive experiences and much more Vivaah Celebrations aced at every front as the guest were enthralled from the very first day of the festivities. Each detail was personalised which ensured that the guests would have precious memories to cherish from the wedding. Rahul shares, “Every detail of the wedding celebration was essential and tailored to the tastes and preferences of our lovely couple. The magnificent Palazzo Versace Dubai played host for the Welcome Dinner on the first evening. Guests were greeted as royalty as soon as they arrived by a scintillating performance by an award-winning international pianist. As the evening progressed, the guests were led to an Iranian fusion fine dining experience at a renowned restaurant, where they enjoyed a sumptuous dinner with live performances.”

For the wedding, everything has to be perfect. And, to make it flawless, no stone was left unturned as the planning team proved their creative mettle by crafting an event that dazzled the senses. Rahul shares, “The Royal Persian Wedding was an opulent event hosted at the luxurious East Lawn of Raffles Palm. The massive landscaped gardens with the backdrop of the palace made this venue perfect for an outdoor event during the day with abundant natural daylight. In the midst of the venue stood a gorgeous dome made of pure crystals where all the elements and accessories of the Sofreh Aghd were kept for the rituals which date back thousands of years. Symbolic items such as rose petals, pistachios, saffron, crystal candles, mirrors, sugar cones and much more were placed carefully. The bride and groom sat in front of a Sofreh which is a symbolic spread representing love, prosperity health and fertility. During the blessing ceremony, the wedding party held a traditional silk cloth over the head of the couple and ground sugar cones together symbolizing sweet blessings raining down on the bride and groom. The ceremony came to an end after the couple said their vows, exchanged rings and sealed it with a kiss. A violinist welcomed the guests and delicacies catered especially from Ladurée, which is famous for its macaroons, indulged their tastebuds. The couple entered the venue with their bridesmaids, groomsmen and adorable flower girls with the tunes of the violin in the backdrop and swiftly toasts were made.”

Finally, the Grand Persian Reception Evening took place at the Raffles Ballroom. Adorned with ornamental walls, carved ceilings and exquisite paintings the ballroom accentuated the beauty of the night and the decor. Ensuring everything went ahead seamlessly was Vivaah Celebrations who worked with the decor and production teams overnight. Rahul shares, “This stunning ballroom is adorned with ornamental walls, carved ceilings and exquisite paintings. The team at Vivaah Celebrations was at work with the decor and production overnight to ensure all details were attended to as planned.

For the Grand Reception Evening, the ballroom was decked up with beautiful grand blush floral installations, overhead decor concepts above the dance floor and gorgeous centrepieces cascading down from the tables adorned with candles. Each plate had the guest’s name on it beautifully placed for them along with the royal dinner menu. Accompanied was a customized luxurious wedding favour that was gifted to all guests in the form of a ceramic pomegranate with customized love poems inscribed on it to take home as a memento.

The newly married couple entered the ballroom to the tunes of a saxophonist and they commemorated the evening by popping open a bottle of champagne which they poured over a champagne tower. This was followed by a four-course dinner and an engaging session on the dance floor where the bride’s sister performed the traditional Persian Knife dance! A band flown in specially from Iran added their music to the cake-cutting ceremony. While the main wedding ceremony was Persian, we incorporated Indian elements in the food and beverage section.”
