Filled with colorful sunsets, rejuvenating spa treatments & romantic houseboat rides, this couple’s holiday in Kerala was a visual treat!
Travel & Honeymoon - Mar 5, 2021
Feasting their eyes on the lush greenery, azure blue skies, and calm waters, Aakrati Kharche Jain and her husband Karan’s first-anniversary celebration in Kerala not only marked a milestone in their relationship but also allowed their bond to grow stronger. Indulging in Kerala’s luxurious hospitality and treating their taste buds to delightful South Indian cuisine, this duo had a relaxing yet fun-filled time as they basked in each other’s love. Here’s a quick look at how their holiday unfolded.
Holiday Planning
Aakrati shares, “The holiday came as a surprise to me as my husband planned it to celebrate our first wedding anniversary! He rightly chose Kerala since he knows that I love luxurious spa treatments and a relaxing holiday! So what better place to do these things than God’s Own Country, Kerala?”
Holiday Highlights
For Aakrati and her husband, their love for Kerala took root from the first sight itself as they made their way towards their resort. Gushing about her breathtaking holiday, Aakrati recollects, “From the moment we set foot in Kerala, we were blown away by the sheer amount of lush greenery that surrounded us. The destination is truly like a green paradise and seems far removed from the bustling concrete jungles that we are so used to nowadays. Furthermore, even the people were extremely friendly, right from our driver to the shopkeeper who greeted us and kindly answered all our questions!”
Describing some of the best parts of their holiday, the couple shares, “There are a plethora of things to do in Kerala and we tried our best to partake in every experience it offered! In the evenings we enjoyed delicious cups of coffee by the placid backwaters while marveling at the colorful sunsets, and during mealtimes, we would continuously reach out for second helpings as we devoured the local delicacies. Furthermore, we also explored the local areas, treated ourselves to rejuvenating ayurvedic spa sessions, and soaked up the sun on the pristine beaches. When it came to romance, nothing could beat the magical stay we experienced on the houseboat whereby we explored the celestial beauty of Kerala while navigating through the placid backwaters.”
Best Meal of The Trip “We did savor some truly amazing meals throughout our trip but the best one in my opinion was at Ettukettu Speciality Restaurant. I absolutely loved the Kerala vegetable korma that’s prepared in a coconut-based gravy and can be had with rice or idiyappam. So much so, that I can have it any time of the day! Also, the breakfast dishes in Kerala are quite light, which in turn ensures that you’re fresh for the adventures that you’ll encounter throughout the day”, shares Aakrati.
Most romantic moment Recollecting their most memorable and romantic moment in the trip, Aakrati shares, “Since this holiday was planned to celebrate our first anniversary, it was filled with many small, special moments that we both will cherish forever. However, my husband did go out of his way and orchestrated a beautiful candlelight dinner that overlooked the backwaters at the Kumarakom Lake Resort. Ensconced by nature and punctuated by the gentle sounds of the backwaters the ambience was absolutely perfect! The servers were silent and swift, which in turn, allowed us to kick back and relax as we reveled in the magic of the moment. It is a night that I will remember forever!”
Must-experience “Kerala is filled with a multitude of thrilling and soothing experiences and I would suggest absorbing them all if you have the time and inclination. However, if you’re on a tight schedule, a romantic houseboat stay, a trip to the bustling markets, visiting Alappuzha which is rightly called the ‘Venice of the East’, exploring the temples, and of course, relaxing amidst the hills of Munnar should certainly feature on your itinerary!”
Advice “Since the climate out there is usually humid, I’d suggest packing light and comfy clothes so as not to restrict your movements.”, advises Aakrati.
