From a traditional village theme to a spring setup, this wedding decor was wonderfully varied
Wedding Planning - Nov 26, 2019
Meticulously planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Urbana Weddings and Events, and captured stunningly by another WeddingSutra Favorite – Anoop.Photography, Purnima and Mehal’s Thailand wedding showcased a range of vibrant themes through its whimsical decor. From typically Indian components to Western setups, the team ensured there was a variety of interesting elements decorating the dreamy venues.
Sangeet
The sangeet was held at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. The theme was ‘Bollywood Through The Decades’ and it was brought to life with a stunning set up inspired by Broadway theatre. There was a stage illuminated with bulbs, with the main screen projecting scenes from classic Bollywood songs which the couple and their guests performed to. Red was the dominant shade of the sangeet decor and colorful LED lights gave the venue a trippy club vibe as the party continued till the wee hours of the morning.
Mehndi
The mehndi ceremony was a resplendent celebration with a ‘Colors of Rajasthan’ theme, transforming it into an Indian village. A gigantic auto-rickshaw cutout with vibrant Indian motifs of paisleys and mandalas welcomed the guests at the entrance, doubling up as a fun photo booth. Traditional umbrellas, chiffon drapes, tea kettles and puppets were suspended through the pathway, with marigold strings and floral frames decorating the venue.
Anand Karaj
The couple’s Anand Karaj, the Sikh wedding ceremony, took place at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha. The decor was beautifully minimal with fresh roses, peonies and gerberas bringing vibrant color to the holy shrine, and royal chandeliers added a touch of opulence.
Reception
The reception had a chic ‘Spring Soiree’ theme consisting of pristine white decor. A brightly-lit white backdrop accentuated the pastel-hued floral installations. Customized chairs for the couple with the words ‘bride’ and ‘groom’ were decorated with hearts crafted from rosettes and other dainty flowers. Complete with candles, crystal hangings and colorful lights, the decorations transformed the venue into a wonderful spring garden.
