From Modeling to Marriages: Mehr Jesia Launches Wedding Planning Company with Red Box Productions

For the first time, Mehr Jesia will be seen in her wedding planner avatar at the prestigious WeddingSutra Influencer Awards 2019 to be held at Taj Lands End, Mumbai.
She belongs to the first generation of supermodels in India and won the title of Femina Miss India in 1986. She later stepped backstage to choreograph fashion shows and left modelling to raise a family. Today, Mehr Jesia is reinventing her career with her wedding planning business.
In this new venture, Mehr is collaborating with her good friends and brother-sister duo Kalyani and Aditya Karandikar of Red Box Productions, a Mumbai-based event management company. With their vast experience in staging and managing large-scale events and Mehr’s iconic style and innate finesse, it seems like a professional marriage made in heaven.

In an interview with WeddingSutra, Mehr spoke about her new Mehr-ier Career:
Which is that one location in India you’d love to travel to orchestrate a wedding?
“I’d love to travel to Kashmir and plan a wedding by a lake there depending on the season, or in one of Pondicherry’s timeless French colonial mansions.”
What is your definition of a ‘Timeless Wedding’?
“A ‘Timeless Wedding’ is one that combines classic simplicity with class, and that doesn’t need social media posts to be remembered.”
What decor theme would you like to execute in for a wedding function in 2019?
“I’d love to design and plan a decor theme with a sensual carnival vibe which will be very sexy and unforgettable.”
Which character from a TV series/ film depicts the life of a wedding planner that you love?
“I don’t watch much TV, but I’d love to see a wedding planned by Madonna and Grace Kelly.”
Can you share something about any memorable wedding you attended as a guest?
“I wasn’t a guest at that marriage ceremony, but my friend Demet and I were watching the wedding festivities from the verandah of a little guest house. It was 1986, in Turkey, in a little fishing village. There were 10 invitees – the parents, the bride’s child from an earlier marriage, two of the couple’s dogs and three friends. The bride and groom sang their vows to each other, accompanied by a screechy fiddler. There was no photographer, and no selfies were taken. It was unforgettable.”
What are Mehr’s three must-haves at a wedding that can make it a truly memorable affair?
“My three must-haves for a memorable wedding involve having the people you love around you, music and a lot of magic!”
