Wedding Planning
Planning their celebration amidst the pandemic, the couple went through a roller-coaster of hits and misses before finally getting their dream wedding at Suryagarh Jaisalmer, planned impeccably despite all challenges by the team of Krayonz Entertainment. Led by Mr. Achint Nag, fondly addressed by the bride as ‘Telly Uncle’, the team shouldered the responsibility of the grand affair, seamlessly navigating every challenge. The bride shares, “We planned not one, not two, but three weddings in different locations before it finally materialized, and through all this emotional turmoil I remained positive thanks to Telly Uncle and his team.
Several married friends warned me about how overwhelming the stress of planning could be, but he made the experience so smooth and memorable for me! From the crazy epiphanies in the middle of the night to raucous family meetings, he became my person through it all, painting canvases with his prose and creating poetry with his process. With him in charge of our planning, I felt as though I was insatiable, as he made me feel that anything was possible. From chartering flights to arranging Gucchi mushrooms from Manali, the logistics in and around Jaisalmer, the entertainment at the wedding functions, NYC’s Met Gala reception dinner and Aladdin’s Agrabah in the middle of the Thar desert – no request of mine was too tall, no demand too difficult. Despite planning a wedding that could easily rival Yash Chopra’s glamor quotient in just one and a half months, I found myself relaxed as the day neared with nothing to worry about. We as a family, learned that wedding planning doesn’t have to be a tedious and painful process. Baneet from Seven Steps Weddings was a key factor in the Design & Styling of the larger-than-life decor themes, while the details for all the functions were executed with great splendor by the renowned team of Vivaah Wedding Decor Stylist. Celebrity entertainer DJ AJ added that oomph to every occasion with his tunes, while a plethora of other artists and vendors came together to make the celebration a rousing success.
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
The guests arrived in great style on a plane that was specially chartered for the celebration and were gifted a variety of customized welcome favors and hampers before checking into the room. The Mehndi function painted a rainbow amidst the rugged terrain of Jaisalmer with vibrant decor and lively festivities. A plethora of different crafts inspired the artistic decor, which included woven rattan baskets of flowers, macramé cushions and hangings, colorful thread elements, hand-painted pots and boxes, local arts and more. Favor stations, an ice-gola corner, live music and a lot more kicked off the celebrations on a merry note.
Sangeet
Hosted at the Lake Garden, the Sangeet night evoked the image of a whimsical wonderland as you entered the festivities through a long walkway of ethereal blue fairy lights and lanterns. Softly lit 3D floral installations and individual LED flowers filled the lawns like a magical meadow, while neon structures delicately illuminated the whole space. Musical artists scattered through the festivities filling the air with the sweet sound of local instruments like sitar, tabla, harmonium, flute and more. The bride and groom left the guests awestruck with their beautifully choreographed entry. The evening saw grand artist performances, choreographed dances and rousing revelries as everyone danced into the night.
Jammy Brunch
The next day began with the Jammy Brunch which saw an eclectic confluence of boho and vintage elements cast the feel of a heritage lodge. Earthy corners with antique paraphernalia, pampas grass, wooden barrels, cane baskets, tribal crafts, shisha and more made for interesting visuals. While tasseled umbrellas, tents and teepees were set up with scattered seating arrangements. Furniture in mismatched textures and colors cast a relaxed, stylish feel.
Sunset at Agrabah
The evening took the guests on a magical ride through Aladdin’s Agrabah with a stunning themed sundowner function on the dunes. A pathway lined with rustic torches, carpets and colorful lanterns led into the function. Carts of spices, pottery, colorful rugs and lanterns conjured the feel of a Middle-Eastern souk market, while succulents, pampas grass, brass props, lounge lights and more completed the atmosphere. A magic carpet canopy bar and a grand installation of Aladdin’s lamp added to the splendor of the evening which saw a grand entry by the couple on an ATV, remarkable tanoura and belly dancers, fire artists and much more. A huge projection of the classic animation film was displayed on the dunes for a special touch, and stunning fireworks and laser shows over the desert left everyone in awe.
Haldi
The next morning began with an intimate, fun-filled Haldi ceremony and phoolon ki Holi at the Gulmohar gardens. An abundance of marigold and rose petals covered the baradari (gazebo) where it was hosted, while the couple were seated in brass urlis filled with petals.
Wedding
The wedding put a modern twist on royalty with decadent, edgy decor that started right from the magnificent peacock installation at the floral entrance gateway. Lush arrangements of green and white led to the iconic bawli of Suryagarh with staggered levels for an amphitheater style mandap and seating. Plush diwans and bolsters surrounded the steps for the guests to sit on in true regal manner, while the mandap saw ethereal decor of white flowers, clusters of baby’s breath and mirrors. The groom arrived in a horse carriage accompanied by his friends and family who exuberantly performed choreographed dances at the baraat. The bride’s entry was beautiful surrounded by her friends and family that left everyone teary-eyed. The couple exchanged vows to grand display of flowers and fireworks.
Met Gala
The festivities came to a spectacular close with the much-awaited Met Gala themed Reception party. Larger than life installations of a unicorn, an LED star, a gilded cage, a Vogue inspired photo corner, and much more all came together to set a grandiose ambiance for the night. True to the theme, everyone dressed in stunning couture pieces and were interviewed by the host on the red carpet. People who were under-dressed were captured by the fashion police and taken to the gilded cage jail. A unique champagne wall was constructed where guests had to ring a bell to be served champagne by hands that emerged through it. A plethora of international artists and a fantastic award function made the evening memorable and much applauded by everyone. Crystal decor, plush velvet furniture and a stunning stage backdrop of candles all added to the atmosphere of celebration which continued till sunrise.
