From traditional to a retro 80’s inspired theme, this couple’s pre-wedding photoshoot in Udaipur served equal doses of elegance and quirk!

Backed by the gorgeous heritage architecture of Udaipur and its untouched nature, Aashi Aggarwal, an Interior Designer and Ojas Tulsyan, a scientist’s pre-wedding photoshoot was a curious mix of desi-meets-retro style. From romantic shots under the azure sky to stylistic shots backed by the vintage streets of the city, this photoshoot orchestrated by WeddingSutra Favorite – Happy Flashbacks was riveting and yet romantic.
Giving us a throwback to the beginning of their love story, Aashi shares, “We first crossed paths in the summer of 2013 via our mutual friend enroute to a get-together. At first, our conversation was minimal, but we totally hit it off as the day progressed. Facebook friendships were made and numbers were exchanged! By our third date, we were sure that this was meant to be. Over the next couple years we maintained a long-distance relationship and braved all the challenges that came our way.” Aashi also goes on to recollect the surprise proposal she orchestrated for Ojas, “We always intended for the proposal to be intimate. Keeping this in mind, I called him to meet me at the same cafe where we’d met for our first date. I arranged a setup on the same table we’d occupied, dressed up almost the same way as I had on that fateful day, and ordered the very same items we’d ordered that day. On entering, I presented him with a ring and he was choked with emotions! I even repeated the same line he’d said to me that day, which was, “I’m truly, madly, deeply passionately, crazily in love with you. Will you be mine forever?” His answer was an instant ‘yes!’ “
For their pre-wedding photoshoot, the couple was keen on capturing the unique facets of their relationship, and what better backdrop than the beautiful city of Udaipur? Ojas shares, “It was one of our first ever shoots that we were planning. Naturally, we were clueless about what to do or what was required. The photography team was a great help throughout the planning process. They first wanted to get acquainted with our vision. We had always imagined a location that offered some royal aesthetics. Aashi had long nurtured a fascination for Udaipur, so it didn’t take long for us to zero down the location. About the theme and styling, we were clear about wanting an all-white look. The city is a maze of heritage architecture which made it obvious for us to pick a traditional look. The third look sported a casual vibe for which an 80’s inspired look caught our fancy. We were excited when we visualized that theme against the stunning backdrop of Udaipur! However, the couple did face some challenges when they missed their connecting flight from Delhi to Udaipur. While we reached there in the evening instead of earlier in the day as originally planned, the photography team had ample time to study the location. As soon as we reached, the team was expecting us and we started gearing up with our make-up and outfits. We headed to the city where our travel agent guided us through a few spots by lake Pichola. The second day, we woke up early to catch the golden hour in order to get the best shots. The entire day was pretty high octane, we kept changing looks and spots on the go. We enjoyed getting clicked so much so, that nothing felt like a challenge beyond a point.
Describing their experience with team Happy Flashbacks, Aashi shares, “With Happy Flashbacks guiding us, we felt a great sense of comfort in front of the camera. The stories we’d curated for so long in our heads were finally turning into reality thanks to their skill sets. Our search for the perfect team to capture our shots ended at team Happy Flashbacks. They made us feel truly confident and important. Not to mention, we felt like we were in the movies with Udaipur creating a romantic backdrop!”
