From vibrant souks to floating palaces, every event at this couple’s wedding made a stylish statement!

Set against the lush expanse of Aura India—an 11-acre haven of natural beauty owned by the groom’s family—Dubai-based Zaara Syed and Tariq Sharif’s wedding showcased elevated minimalism and immersive design. Designed to life by WeddingSutra Favorite – Bluewater Productions, the celebrations unfolded like a poetic journey through spaces that were completely reimagined to reflect the couple’s distinctive sensibilities.

The festivities commenced with a Mehendi that paid homage to Zaara’s Dubai roots. A section of the verdant lawns was transformed into a vibrant souk, where earthy tones of rust, maroon, and ochre played beautifully against the backdrop of green foliage and shimmering lakeside blue. Guests wandered through thoughtfully designed zones—a carpet bazaar, a spice market, a perfume souk—all redolent with rich scents and tactile textures. “Zaara wanted the Mehendi to feel like a journey through a Dubai market, but elevated,” shares Sneha from Bluewater Productions. “Every activity, from block printing to the perfume bar, was curated to create a layered, sensory experience that felt personal and transportive.”

From immersive heritage, the narrative shifted dramatically at the Sangeet, where bold theatricality took centre stage. Titled ‘Scream Red and Have Fun’, this event was an ode to maximalism. The venue exploded in shades of scarlet, layered with gold petal motifs and grounded with black accents. A striking velvet arch, a vibrant red floral palette, and antique chandeliers crowned the setting with grandeur. The stage and surrounding lounge, elevated and adorned with eclectic vintage props, became the focal point of an evening defined by glamour and unrestrained joy. “This one was all about going big,” adds Shahil from the design team.

In contrast, the Gala Dinner was an intimate affair designed with soft-spoken elegance. With a vision spearheaded by Tariq, the evening was intended as a heartfelt gathering of close friends, a space for shared stories and gentle nostalgia. The decor was delicately composed in whites and sage greens, accentuated with bud vases, pearl-studded fruits, and vintage glassware that whispered luxury. “We wanted guests to feel like they were dining inside a memory,” says Sneha. “Every detail was curated to spark connection and conversation.”

The pièce de résistance, however, was the Reception, a structural and visual marvel that left guests awestruck. Taking Zaara’s vision of a ‘Modern Palace Floating on the Lake’, Bluewater Productions engineered an architectural spectacle right atop the water. A 36 ft by 36 ft lace-clad palace with soaring arches, built and installed with meticulous precision, stood as a symbol of modern opulence. Inside, reams of draped white fabric and an eclectic mix of furniture added softness to the grandeur. “It was a technical challenge we were excited to take on,” shares Shahil. “We had 30 workers lifting the structure, welders ensuring every joint was secure, and an in-house team dedicated entirely to the lace installation. But the moment it stood tall on the lake, it was magic.”
