Get inspired by the myriad moods of this offbeat indoor pre-wedding photoshoot
Wedding Photography & Films - Jun 24, 2020
Special is the bond that effortlessly transforms from childhood friendship into an all-encompassing love. From vastly different professions to temperaments, Rashi found the yang to her yin in Mehul, two halves completing a whole, never to be apart again. The nuances of their love were frozen in frames for eternity by WeddingSutra Favorite – Wedding Krafter by Anoop Padalkar with a unique indoor prewedding photoshoot.
Looking back at their journey of love, Rashi shares, “Mehul and I had known each other since childhood, and we realized our true feelings for each other in our fourth year of college. I initially had misgivings about embarking upon a relationship, but it was our mutual friend who played cupid and assured me of the gem Mehul is, I soon decided to give it a shot. Little did I know I would end up marrying him! His calm demeanor perfectly complements my bubbly nature, and we both absolutely live for food. When we broke the news to our parents, although taken aback, they happily accepted our union of love, and we tied the knot exactly a year after our announcement in a beautiful ceremony in our native town of Sanchore, Rajasthan.”
When the couple started planning their wedding, they had a very clear vision of how they wanted their bond to be captured. Not only did they want to avoid all clichés when it came to poses and outfits, they also wanted to shoot in an indoor location instead of a picturesque outdoor one, as most couples do. “When we shared our vision with Anoop, he was slightly skeptical, since an indoor shoot limits the number of possibilities in terms of backdrops. However, being the powerhouse of talent that he is, he took this as a challenge and put together a shoot that exceeded all our expectations.”
After extensive, exhaustive research, the couple discovered a hidden oasis in the heart of Mumbai. The quaint home décor shop in Bandra, Mumbai called The Peacock Life with its blend of Victorian and vintage Indian interiors enveloped in a burst of color, fulfilled their requirements perfectly. An open terrace space was an added bonus.
Drawing inspiration from leading fashion magazines along with some celebrity pictures for added inspiration, the shoot was conceptualized with 4 different settings and moods, namely casual, formal, Bollywood and traditional.
Rashi shares, “Starting with the casual look, we decided to just let our personalities speak. Dressed in comfortable athleisure wear, we kept the mood natural and relaxed, which Anoop and his team captured against a variety of different backdrops.”
The traditional aesthetic theme was planned as an ode to the positive impact that the couple’s parents’ happy and positive marriages had on their individual upbringing. Dressed in a gorgeous red saree with statement jewelry and minimalistic yet chic makeup and hair, the bride channeled royalty. Shot against the old-world charm of the store, the pictures evoke a sense of nostalgia.
“The formal shoot was the most challenging, but at the same time, an extremely satisfying one. Captured in fierce, yet sensual frames, Anoop brought out our deeper, more glam personas that even we had never experienced before. We felt like we were shooting for a high fashion magazine, and the outcome was nothing short of it.”
For the Bollywood section, thanks to the couple’s cousins who stepped in to assist, the terrace was filled completely with flowers and other beautiful props. Dressed in her gorgeous Sangeet lehenga by Dolly J, standing amidst the field of flowers, Rashi evoked the memory of Simran in DDLJ running towards her Raj.
Looking back on their experience working with Anoop, Rashi shares, “This shoot will always hold a special place in our memories, and we cannot thank the Wedding Krafter team enough for these precious works of art. They were incredibly supportive and helpful, and also guided us every step of the way. The experience of shooting on the whole was just downright enjoyable, and full of fun and laughter. The response we got for the photos from our loved ones was unbelievable, and we knew we had made the right choice”.
