Hollywood’s A-List couple to wed near Ranthambore
Celebrity News - Oct 22, 2010
It’s a Hollwood meets Bollywood theme wedding for American pop star Katy Perry and British comedian Russell Brand. The couple landed in India for their very private wedding which reportedly takes place on Saturday. The wedding venue Aman-I-Khas (combining aman, or “peace”, in Sanskrit, and khás, or “special”, in Urdu and Hindi) is an exclusive wilderness camp, located adjacent to the famous Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve near Jaipur. Aman-I-Khas is run by the famous Aman Group and has around ten luxury tents each echoing a rich Mughal style with rooms separated by cotton drapes. The best Travel sites recommend the luxury tents as an astonishing place like no other, in settings enjoyed by erstwhile Emperors who travelled with their entourages during the hunting season.
The four days of celebrations begin tonight and we hear all the arrangements are being managed by Celebrity Wedding Planner Mindy Weiss. Russell’s close pals including Jonathan Ross, Noel Gallagher, David Williams and Singer Morrisey and Katy’s pop star friends Rihanna and Taylor Swift are expected to attend. According to media reports, Katy’s wedding dress is being designed by Lebanese designer Reem Reem Acra; she has picked creations by Indian designers too—like Bridal wear designers Falguni and Shane Peacock and Delhi-based jewellery designer Hanut Singh.
Russell proposed to Perry when they were staying at The Presidential Suite at the Taj Rambagh Palace, Jaipur. He asked the hotel to set up a candlelit dinner for which the couple arrived in a horse carriage. They ate under the stars and at midnight enjoyed a fireworks show while sitting on an elephant. Russell presented Katy some flowers in which he hid the engagement ring.
