How they met
As expressed by their #ItTook10Years, Art Director Shivani Ghosh and Art Producer Eeshaan Roy traversed a decade of friendship and love full of highs and lows to arrive at the beautiful junction of their wedding. From being college mates to best buddies, foodies, binging partners, work colleagues, and finally life partners, their journey was full of colors.

Wedding Planning
The perfect setting for their intimate Bengali wedding, the Rajbari Haveli (a remnant of Zamindari grandeur from colonial times) in the Triveni Sangam city of India – Prayagraj, offered stunning heritage architecture and cozy spaces for each of the functions. The team of SANJ Events and Entertainment planned every minute detail to transform the venue into a haven of sensorial experiences that would make a lasting impression on the guests.

As both Eeshaan and Shivani come from creative backgrounds and grew up with Bengali traditions, the bar for the decor was set high. They wanted their wedding to narrate their story of love while keeping the essence of Bengali culture alive, with thoughtful, intentional design and aesthetics as the pillars of the process. Anything OTT was ruled out, and elegance was paramount. Keeping all their ideas in mind, team SANJ crafted the concept of ‘An Old-Cool Ishq’ – An amalgamation of Modern and Traditional Love.

Wedding Functions
Bhat
The revelries kicked off with the ceremony of Ai Buro Bhat, a Bengali tradition celebrating the bride’s last meal in her maternal home. Emblematic of the beginning of a new journey, the decor for this “gem of a meal” sought inspiration from 6 gemstones. Rich jewel tones came together in stunning arrangements of table settings, flowers, and more, tied together with ornate metallic elements.

Sangeet
A fantasy come true for those who love all things magical and mythical, the evening kicked creativity into high gear with a themed Sangeet function! Iconic references from the couple’s beloved Harry Potter and Game of Thrones were woven into the decor and festivities to create a land of magic that reflected their journey of love.

Table centerpieces and guest seating allotment were inspired by house flags from GOT while Daily Prophet copies featured interesting tidbits from the couple’s 10 years together. Hogwarts’s grand dining hall came alive with a canopy of candles, magical books, and enchanted keys hanging over guests as they enjoyed a lay of shots named for the most famous potions. Albus Dumbledore got his very own corner with his ‘Pencieve’ memory ball, wand, owl, and more as a tribute and photo op for the guests. The striking Quidditch Goal Post backdrop tied it all together!

Haldi
Inspired by Sweetness of Bengal, the ‘Mishti Holud’ Haldi function evoked culture, traditions, and old-school romance. Pots of banana trees, alpona (traditional rice-paste rangoli), and foliage streamers in the courtyard set a charming home-style ambiance reminiscent of weddings in ancestral homes, while framed writings of Shree Rabindranath Tagore Ji added a special touch. ‘Kalkatta Paan’ and Bengali sweets completed the experience.

Wedding
A tranquil blend of art and nature, the wedding was brought sensuously to life with the art forms of Bengali. Terracotta Handicrafts lent their earthy elegance to the occasion, used as everything from the decor to vessels for confetti, contrasted by ornate brass elements. Kantha, an embroidery craft form widely used in Bangladesh and West Bengal, had its special corner. Ghunghroos, traditional hand fans, and more were woven into the lush mandap design for a lovely touch. Finally, in consideration of the bride’s love for nature and the Earth, the guests threw eco-friendly confetti on the couple instead of flowers during the varmala ceremony. It was a beautiful celebration in perfect harmony with nature.
