Hruday and Spoorthi’s Pre-Wedding Shoot in Badami and Pattadkallu
Pre Wedding Photoshoots, Wedding Photography & Films - Nov 13, 2017
Ancient caves, holy temples and incredible carvings and inscriptions stood steadfast as backdrop to this love story played out in Karnataka, in a unique pre-wedding shoot by WeddingSutra Favorite Aniket Kanitkar.
The cave temples of Badami, on the banks of Agastya Lake are an exemplar of devotion expressed in art. One of the birthplaces of Indian rock architecture, it is steeped in exoticism and is a government recognized heritage city. Pattadakallu in the north of Karnataka is a hub of ten Hindu and Jain temples dating back to the 7th and 8th century. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and another architectural marvel. The gravitas and beauty of these locations made Hruday and Spoorthi go weak at the knees. The couple who both suffer a serious case of wanderlust, decided to club a visit to these locations with a pre-wedding shoot.
Spoorthi tells us all about it.
How we met
“I’d just come back to my hometown after finishing my masters when my aunt received a proposal for me. I wasn’t keen but then eventually I saw Hruday’s photographs on my father’s phone. I think it counts as love at first sight. I stole all those pictures right away. Then I got all his details. I checked our kundalis on every app I could find – it is mandatory in our family that they be matched – before my parents could show them to any astrologer.
When it comes to his side of the story, my mother in law mentioned that he was very excited to meet me. But still, a month went past with me wondering ‘will he won’t he?’ After all, I thought, why would he accept an average looking girl like me?
Then came a precious day in my life. In typical arranged marriage style, a number of family members on both sides got together at his home. Before the meeting I’d prepared a long list of questions to ask before taking the final decision. However, the moment I saw him I was quite mesmerized and couldn’t take my eyes off him. He also seemed responsible, loving, gentle and caring. Everything a girl could ask for.”
Pre-Wedding Shoot
Aniket Kanitkar, the talented photographer who captured the couple’s most beautiful moments together shared some highlights from the shoot. “Shooting in a public place is already a challenge in itself. It’s in the open, people are staring and it will make the couple nervous – something that could possibly show in the pictures. So making them comfortable was our top priority.
Light plays a very crucial role in an outdoor shoot so we also adhered to a strict timing plan which included travel. We wanted to spend less time commuting and more time shooting.
When shooting at Badami Caves, an army of monkeys kept distracting us and what was really funny was watching the couple pose cautiously but then run away as a monkey approached them.”
