Love Actually – Aashumi and Sagar’s Platinum Day of Love
Love Actually, Precious Platinum - Aug 22, 2016
Our initiative ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates people in love as they start their lives together – because real love can only begin, never end.
Aashumi Mehta is a chartered accountant by profession and her fiancé Sagar Jhaveri is a businessman based in Japan. They were introduced to each other by a mutual friend who found that Aashumi and Sagar had one visible thing in common – they were both quite tall. “I am 5 feet-9.5 inches tall and Sagar is 6 feet-5 inches tall. I didn’t quite believe it till I saw him in person,” shares Aashumi.
The couple got to know each other well through WhatsApp and Skype chats before they met in person. “Once Sagar came down to Mumbai, we met daily. And from our second date itself we felt very comfortable with each other,” recalls Aashumi. She states that she did not have any anxious moments about what would follow and just enjoyed going with the flow. They were both looking for a permanent relationship and the moment came without too much planning. On their fourth date, after watching a movie, Sagar suggested that Aashumi meet his parents.
She recalls, “We went there after the movie to meet them so it was around midnight when we reached his place as we hadn’t really planned it. That was the sweetest and the most awkward moment of my life. He later told me that he had always wanted to take the girl of his dreams home and introduce her to his parents saying she is the one. The next day he came and met my parents.”
There was no one particular moment when Sagar and Aashumi knew they were in love. She says that they were friends first and she wasn’t stressed about which direction their relationship would go. All she knew was that she was very happy with him as he was with her. “We were really comfortable and we never ran out of things to talk about. We met every day and started enjoying each other’s company a lot. We started as friends and that is how I wanted it to be. A month later he called me and asked whether it was a ‘Yes’ or a ‘No’ from my side. I didn’t understand what he was hinting at first, then he said that it was time our parents met each other… so it was a ‘Yes’ from my side. We got formally engaged after our families met,” recounts the happy bride.
The couple chose the beautiful environs of the ITC Grand Maratha near the international airport to celebrate and capture their ‘Day of Love’ with a special Love Actually photoshoot by WeddingSutra – even though it was wet and slick with the monsoon showers. “The hotel has lovely places such as the cosy Catherine’s lounge and one of our favourite backdrops – the signature jharokhas. These turned out be perfect for our shoot with candid photographer Namit Narlawar.
The couple chose a beautiful pair of platinum wedding bands embedded with diamonds. “These were perfect for close-up shots of our hands!” says Aashumi. Their choice of platinum wedding bands embodies their belief that their love for each other will never change or fade much in the way that platinum never loses its sheen or shape over the years.
While Aashumi is very clear about her tastes and has finished most of her wedding shopping, doing the Love Actually shoot with WeddingSutra gave her lots of ideas and tips regarding make-up and hair styling that she plans to put to use on her special day. Sagarand she are going to have a destination wedding in Rajasthan in December this year.
