Inspired by traditional Tanjore art, this couple’s engagement celebration was luxurious and inventive!
Wedding Planning - Aug 17, 2023
The union of art and luxury is a rare occasion. But, when done right, this union can easily trump the usual glamour that one sees at Indian weddings. At Nithila and Keerthen’s engagement ceremony, something similar took place as cues were taken from the rich Chettinad culture and the stunning Tanjore art forms to create an event that stood out. Designed and conceptualized by WeddingSutra Favorite – The A-Cube Project, the celebrations were an ode to the couple’s cultural roots while seamlessly infusing the duo’s love for modern aesthetics.
Giving us an overview of the decor, Ambika Gupta from The A-Cube Project shares, “Inspired by all things luxe and South Indian, this event was envisioned using intricate details from the Tanjore style of art. Hosted at The Leela Palace Chennai, the rich wooden textures and rustic jute details were offset by dull gold props. This set-up was further accentuated with intricate coconut weave lanterns, fragrant flower arrangements and traditional Chettinad furniture.”
With an earthy colour palette that was accentuated by white blooms, the decor used regional motifs, cane baskets, traditional diya stands, Chettinad-style majestic wooden doors with gold knockers, urlis and plenty of fresh tuberoses to create a magical space. Plus, ambient lights placed strategically around the corners lit up the venue and the decor with the right amount of light to create a cosy atmosphere.
