Love Actually – Abhilasha and Raj’s Platinum Day of Love
Love Actually - Aug 29, 2016
Our initiative ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates beautiful people in love as they start their lives together: because real love is timeless.
What started as a group vacation among friends ended in a romantic liaison for Raj and Abhilasha. On a trip to Goa in January this year, with her best friend and her husband, the husband’s best friend showed up and the chance encounter led to a beautiful relationship.
Raj is from San Francisco and was instantly attracted to the friendly, affectionate Abhilasha. “I definitely wanted some quality time with her but we were always in a group so I asked her to meet me at the beach for a casual chat,” he says. The chemistry was palpable as the chat quickly turned into a soul-searching, emotionally intimate conversation. “It was a very special day,” Abhilasha remembers being comfortable enough to reveal some special wishes, “At the beach he asked me about the kind of guy I wanted to marry. I didn’t hesitate. I found myself telling him all about the kind of proposal I dreamed of.”
Little did she know…
A while later, Raj, armed with his insider information, decided to pop the question with a flash mob! “It was crazy,” he laughs, “Abhilasha was in Versova; I just had my friends tag along and we did an impromptu dance professing my love for her. I ultimately proposed to her in the middle of the bustling streets of Versova.”
Overwhelmed, Abhilasha said yes immediately and after introducing each other to their respective families. “Both families agreed almost immediately,” Abhilasha beams. The couple were engaged on Valentine’s Day this year.
They say you can’t hurry love, but this couple is in no mood to wait. They will tie the knot this October and are refreshingly relaxed about the preparations and impending responsibilities. “It’s going to be a very intimate event,” Abhilasha reasons, “It’s all happened so soon but I’m so glad it did.”
It helps that as a professional make-up artist marrying an ethnic fashion enthusiast, the decisions about the trousseau and make up are easy. Abhilasha says she will do her own make up, keeping it natural and traditional. Raj plans to wear Sikh attire for the wedding.
Over steaming cups of coffee, overlooking an overcast sky, we shot this gorgeous couple at the beautiful Presidential suite overlooking the airport runway at Taj, Santacruz. The love was evident in their eyes and their happiness was contagious during the shoot. Abhilasha slipped a platinum love band on her finger and loved the subtlety of it. “I love the idea of Platinum love bands, they look great and couples wearing matching ones just signify to me, faith in the permanence of their love.”
WeddingSutra wishes this wonderful couple ‘bonne chance’ and a lifetime of happy serendipity!
