Love Actually- Prerna Mehta and Karan Khanna’s Platinum Day of Love

Our new initiative- ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring engaged couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates the beautiful people in love as they start their lives together. Because real love can only begin, never end. Over coffee, a makeover and a photo shoot we get to-be-weds to tell us how they met, show us their platinum love bands and talk about their day of love.
Can a blind date be the foundation for something to last the lifetime? For Prerna and Karan, a blind date arranged by a common friend turned out to be a turning point and from then on there was no looking back. They met at The Dome at InterContinental, Mumbai and coincidentally we also captured them here at their romantic best.
Prerna, a marketing professional and Karan, a businessman and a novelist have different personalities but their love for food, travel and celebrations binds them together. His fun loving nature, positive attitude and delightful candor attracted Prerna to Karan. She says, “I always wanted someone I could talk to without inhibitions and have a good time with. Karan is exactly like that. The bond we share is based on deep-rooted friendship and understanding.”
Karan traveled abroad frequently for his business and that is when Prerna realized that it was not infatuation but love. After a year of dating they decided to get married. Karan is not one who displays his emotions easily but he surprised Prerna in the most romantic way. A day before their engagement party, when Prerna returned home Karan was already there and had decorated the room with all things customized. She says, “There were customized balloons, candles, our photos, a box of beads with every bead having a message, cards with poems. A video was also playing with our pictures and favorite songs as the soundtrack. It was as romantic as it can get.”
The much-in-love couple are tying the knot this month. When it comes to planning the wedding, Prerna is very particular about everything and hence is involved in every little aspect of it. But it is not the décor, the food or the venue arrangements that she finds challenging. She says, “It is coordinating the dance practices of the family members and the friends which is the most difficult part. Getting them together on time at one place is a mission in itself.” As a little girl, she wanted her wedding to be very traditional with an earthy and rustic feel to it and that’s exactly how it is going to be. She says, “Our wedding will be a very traditional one, with a Rajasthani folk flavor to it- from the food to the décor. And now, it feels so good to see your dreams turn into reality.”
