Love Actually- Samridhi Vijay and Siddharth Singhvi’s Platinum Day of Love

Our new initiative- ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring engaged couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates the beautiful people in love as they start their lives together. Because real love can only begin, never end. Over coffee, a makeover and a photo shoot we get to-be-weds to tell us how they met, show us their platinum love bands and talk about their day of love.
Kolkata based Samridhi and Siddharth first met when they were kids. Says Samridhi ‘We used to live in the same building, and our friends would tease us referring to us as a couple. Like most kids who get angry when ‘paired up’ we’d get angry too, but funnily our friends were right.” Samridhi and her parents shifted when she was 13 years old and for a few years the childhood friends were not in touch until they reconnected. Says Samridhi: “We started dating in 2004 and since then we have been together. Siddharth proposed to me in Australia where both of us were pursuing our Masters degree. We both love the beaches and the sea and he chose a beautiful beach-side restaurant to pop the question. The setting was divine, but even if it wasn’t I would have said ‘yes’.”
Samridhi and Siddharth got engaged on 5th May, 2013 at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata and they celebrated the momentous occasion with champagne, cake, family and friends. The inspiration for the theme, says Samridhi was ‘White weddings’. “I wore a poppy pink and beige gown and Siddharth was dressed in a Tuxedo. I walked down the aisle with my dad. Me and Siddharth exchanged rings, and champagne bottles were uncorked; the cake was cut amidst joyous claps and it was time for our first dance.”
Samridhi was looking for a unique and special special gift for Siddharth. “I wanted a gift that reflected his style and which symbolized our relationship. I chose a classic and elegant platinum band, a perfect expression of our love and his personal style.” Siddharth searched for a little unconventional ring for Samridhi. “After a little search I picked a solitaire with baguettes around it”, he says.
The wedding celebrations are in mid-February at Taj Bengal, Kolkata and both Samridhi and Siddharth are busy between work schedules and wedding preps. Says Siddharth: “Its been fairly hectic yet fun and we have divided the responsibilities almost equally. She is focusing on the shopping, photography and décor bit and I am spending time on the logistics, entertainment and honeymoon planning. What is most exciting is how our friends are looking forward to celebrate with us; seeing their excitement gets us more charged up, and we can’t wait for the fun times to begin.”
