Manmeet and Ashish’s Platinum Day of Love
Love Actually - Oct 5, 2017
Our Love Actually series captures beautiful moments between couples in the most stunning locations across Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.
We met Manmeet and Ashish in the beautiful surroundings of The Courtyard House, Bangalore. Manmeet was radiant through the shoot courtesy GlossNGlass. The couple wore gorgeous platinum jewellery by Abaran, Bengaluru. And Ankit Singh managed to capture the love between the two in frames the couple will cherish forever.
This is their story.
“Ashish and I met at a social event and we had a brief conversation. He managed to get my number and messaged me but I was certain that anything I was getting into had to evolve into marriage. So naturally, I didn’t even think about him that seriously,” Manmeet laughs at the irony. She says Ashish came across as a lovely gentleman and so she figured that having him as a good friend made sense.
Deep in the friend zone, Ashish didn’t lose hope. He kept at it and eventually found his moment to prove himself. Manmeet recalls the day she realized he was the one for her, “He’d asked me out to dinner. The plan was for him to pick me up from my shoot at 5:00 pm, get an early dinner and then go to a movie. But the agenda was completely thrown when my shoot went on till 8:30 pm.” Ashish had got there a half hour early too but when he realized he’d have to wait, he instructed the crew not to let Manmeet know he was waiting for her, “He didn’t want to disturb the shoot.” When Manmeet was finally done, she emerged exhausted and hungry. She remembers, “He really took good care of me. We grabbed a really quick bite and went to see the film. After the film I was still hungry but by then all the restaurants were shut. So Ashish drove for an hour and a half to reach the airport where we finally got food. I realized I really really liked him!”
Still clear she had no time for a fleeting romance, she was pleased to hear Ashish tell her he was in for the long haul too. Within four months of their initial meeting, he’d introduced her to his family and friends. While Ashish admits he was smitten at first sight, getting to know Manmeet only furthered his love for her, “She stood by me even when times were a little rough and has always shown her support. We are pretty unlike each other – I am emotional and she is practical, she’s a little shy around new people while I’m more outgoing. She brings balance in my life. There are times when we fight like crazy people, but which couple doesn’t!”
Manmeet describes the relationship in a beautiful way, “Being with Ashish is like the feeling of coming home,” she smiles, “It the reassurance that you feel when you write an exam knowing your parents are waiting outside for you. You hope that all goes well. And there’s the joy and relief you feel when you run to them after finishing your paper.” Ashish nods, “We are very comfortable with each other which leaves no room for any pretense. While she is introverted, it’s not the same when she is with me.”
The two have their favorite things about each other. Manmeet says, “I love how Ashish is so giving and caring. A lot of people do things for you with an expectation of receiving something in return, but not him. I trust that he would do everything to make me happy.” She tells us about his proposal, “There was a period when he would travel to meet his family in Mumbai every weekend. Though we both lived in Bangalore, it was in different corners of the city so we could only meet on the weekends. We had an argument one weekend. That Saturday I lost my cool and told him he wasn’t serious about us and he was wasting my time. He flew back that Sunday and asked me to marry him.”
The Courtyard House provided the ideal backdrop for Manmeet and Ashish’s pictures. The duo loved the feel of the venue, “We really liked the entire place and the way it was set up, the look and feel, the greenery around…” says Ashish. “Both, the indoors as well as the outdoors are really pretty” adds Manmeet.
They couple also loved the platinum love bands they wore at the shoot. Ashish mentions how he’d planned to buy Manmeet one, inspired by WeddingSutra, “I was aware of the Platinum Day of Love and thought it was a great concept. In fact, I’d planned to give Manmeet a platinum band at our engagement but due to a change of plans, I couldn’t go ahead with it. Still, we loved the jewellery we wore today, simple, subtle and well designed.” “Yes, the jewellery was stunning but I love the ring in particular. It is something that can be worn casually as well as for formal events. I have already enquired about the price of the ring and the necklace and hope to buy it soon,” adds Manmeet.
