Masaba’s Wedding- a Stylish Sangeet at ITC Maratha and Grand Reception at St Regis

Earlier this year, Neena Gupta and Cricketer Vivian Richards’ designer daughter Masaba had a quiet court marriage with producer Madhu Mantena. It was followed by an after-party for close friends, after which there was speculation that the talented designer will have an extravagant destination wedding in November or December. But Masaba didn’t choose Goa, Rajasthan, Kerala or South-East Asia for her nuptials, her wedding was a good ol’ home-town affair with functions at ITC Grand Maratha and JW Marriott Sahar, Andheri with the finale reception at the newly opened St Regis, Lower Parel.
The celebrations commenced with an intimate Mehndi at the lawns of Neena Gupta’s friend’s bungalow in Juhu. The invites for the Sangeet and Reception, which guests received just before Diwali were playing cards with Masaba’s quirky designs. The Sangeet at ITC Grand Maratha was a stylish and fun-filled affair with performances by the bride’s closest friends including Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Kangana Ranaut. The highlight of the evening was a performance by Team Phantom (groom Madhu Mantena is the co-founder of Phantom Films). Post the Sangeet the couple and their best friends headed to JW Marriott, Sahar for an after-party.
Sunday evening saw a lot of hectic activity with St Regis’ General Manager Anuraag Bhatnagar alongwith the Wedding Planners (Kickstart Entertainment) busy with the last minute preparations. We also spotted ace bodyguard Yaseen Khan (Shahrukh Khan’s former bodyguard who now runs his own protection company) and his team deployed at several strategic points. Unlike Shahid Kapoor’s wedding reception which was held at the top floors of the hotel, Masaba’s reception venue was the newly-refurbished Ballroom of St Regis which was designed with a very lounge-theme with lot of red roses and over 2000 tealights. The menu included several international cuisines with the delicacies by chefs of Japanese restaurant Yuuka being the biggest draw.
The DJ for the Sangeet and Reception was DJ Hiren Bhawsar, and the decor for all the functions were orchestrated by Mumbai-based decor company The Finale. The wedding was planned and managed by Kickstart Entertainment– Founder Aman Anand and Nemish Sanghvi, the Head of the wedding division were at the helm of the affair. This is the second big bollywood wedding managed by Kickstart- the other one being Shahid Kapoor’s wedding in Delhi and Mumbai.
For the Mehndi, Masaba wore her own creation. For the Sangeet, she wore a bright pink ensemble by Delhi designer Sanjay Garg (Raw Mango) and for the Reception a stunning lehenga by Anamika Khanna.
