Minimalistic with a dash of vintage elegance, this couple’s floral all-red wedding mandap is bound to inspire!
Wedding Planning - Jun 20, 2023
Swasti Shah, Creative Director at The Blue Knot and Rohil Mehrotra’s wedding in Agra was a serene celebration that expressed the couple’s love for aesthetics. Planning and designing this union was WeddingSutra Favorite – Wedding Duo who with their creative flair understood the couple’s vision and made it a reality.
How They Met
Swasti shares, “We’ve been childhood friends and I’d always nurtured a secret crush on him. And, as luck would have it, we bonded gradually through mutual get-togethers and yearly Diwali parties.”
Wedding Planning
Spearheading the couple’s wedding planning was the Wedding Duo who in their quest for perfection was indomitable. The couple shares, “Right from the get-go working with Wedding Duo was a seamless experience. They understood the smallest of details and once on board, they were all hands on deck. Their team precisely understands what a couple needs when they take the plunge. Thanks to them, we were able to enjoy this momentous day in our lives with complete ease.”
Wedding Functions
Welcome Dinner
Swasti shares, “The first night of celebrations transported us back in time to the 80s with a retro theme welcome dinner. Cutouts of iconic Bollywood actresses of the era, faux fur coats, retro attires and music from the eighties kept us partying for a long time.”
Mehndi and Sangeet
The bride shares, “The mehndi lunch combined with the sangeet was a colourful occasion with canopies keeping the sun at bay. Plus, the poolside venue added to the beauty. The cushions to the curtains had pastel prints on them, which made the event look very serene and feminine.”
Cocktail Dinner
“As night fell, we transitioned into a more glamorous version of ourselves at the cocktail night. The event looked magical with its huge chandeliers, candles and floor lanterns. However, the highlight was the entryway which was decked up in candles creating a dreamy atmosphere”, shares Swasti.
Haldi
As customary, the haldi was swathed in hues of yellow which were accented by cane baskets that were brimming with baby’s breath blooms. This combination of white and yellow interspersed with earthy hues created a soothing colour palette that looked beautiful under the afternoon sun.
Wedding
For the wedding, perfection was essential. And, the couple took a traditional route when it came to the decor. Swasti shares, “For the pheras we kept the decor elegant and traditional. We didn’t want to go overboard and make it too grandiose. Both of us love the beauty of antique artefacts and included antique knick-knacks in the decor. Candelabras and a mandap covered with garlands crafted out of red blooms completed the entire look.”
Advice For Couples
“I think it’s always better for to-be-weds to enjoy the process together. It’s a ‘once-in-a-life time’ kind of journey, so it’s best to savour every part of it. However, leave the heavy lifting to planners who will expertly guide you through the maze of wedding planning.”
